It's not the audio (although it could be the sub-audible tone) because you can bring up a repeater without any audio at all.?

It could be that even though the sub-audible is set for 110.9, it is switched off.? This might well be the problem.? You can switch the tone on and off with just about all rigs.?

Another less likely possibility (since Don checked it) is that for some reason the duplex is not working as expected.? Does the display show the xmit frequency? It should be 144.69 Mhz.? If neither of these is the problem then I suggest that Harry and I listen to Don's signal to see if anything appears amiss.

I hope this helps.

Quick question...Can you confirm my assumption that this repeater will return a tone if it catches my transmission? This way I can test without someone else actually being on the repeater. I’m assuming this is the case with all repeaters but not sure.

I’m using an ICOM 9700 and a dual band collinear base station antenna on the roof about 45 feet in the air. My next step is to actually download a programming file using software - looking into the RT Systems software. Maybe there’s a setting that’s eluding me. I’ve tried using the iCOM programming software but it requires you to manually input all of the data to a table anyway (or at least find a CSV file that’s already in the correct format, which I don’t have). There are amazing support groups on Facebook that are filling the void until this social distancing thing ends.

I also tried again tonight to check in to the net but could not be heard. I have a new rig and can't seem to hit the Canadice repeater even though I can hit the Bristol repeater loud and clear. I could hear everyone just fine and off the scale. I double checked the duplex (-) and tone (110.9) but just not hitting that repeater! I even cranked it up to 100 watts and boosted the mic gain, but the repeater is just not getting my signal and letting me in no matter what I do. Maybe there is a special magic handshake that I'm not doing?? Oh well....See you all on Zoom.

I hear many of the net check ins on simplex and given that I hear KF2TV and? Dusty on simplex so I should also be able to hear you.??

Don,

On FM, if you activate the repeater when you press the Push-to-talk button on your mic, you should hear the repeater transmit for about 3/4 of a second after you let go of the PTT button.? It is just a squelch-tail. ?? There is no audible tone on our repeater.

With that antenna at 45 feet, the repeater should have no problem hearing you.? And since you say you hear it just fine, I'd say your antenna is fine.? I would guess your Tone Squelch/PL tone is not setup correctly.? I know you said you double-checked, but I know it can be tricky getting the right settings saved to a memory channel.? So I would look closely at that.? Yes, you need a 110.9 Hz sub-audible tone on your transmit signal on 144.69Mhz.

As Harry said, any one of us can certainly lend a hand if you continue to have issues getting in.

Brian

Hi Don,

Something seems strange. I can bring up the club repeater with my 5W handheld sitting at my first floor dinner table. I’m in Webster near Hegedorn’s.

May Meeting (Virtual)

开云体育

Hi all,

We had a successful Board Meeting using Zoom earlier tonight, and we decided to go ahead and schedule our May general meeting as a virtual meeting.? The meeting date will be the usual 2nd Thursday (May 14), but instead of our 6PM start time, we will start at 8PM, and it will be online (NOT AT WEBSTER REC).

We will be using Zoom, and the meeting invitation is below.? I am fairly certain you can get to the meeting using the link below, but you may have better results by downloading the app if you are using a smart phone.? You can also get an app for the PC, which it may prompt you to optionally download.

You should be able to get audio via phone or PC.? A good USB headset with a mike is a plus on a PC.

One topic will be plans for Field Day.? As of this moment, it is still on as far as I know.? We will likely need to develop some additional plans/procedures this year.

We hope to have a few virtual shack tours during the meeting.? I'm sure there will be a few bugs, but if we hope things will go fairly smooth.

Details how to access the meeting are below:
