XRX/ARES Radio Clubs Joint Field Day 2024
开云体育Everyone, Our joint XRX/ARES Radio Clubs Field Day 2024 is Saturday, June
22 and Sunday, June 23.? This year we will again be at the lower
soccer fields at Kent Park, 1700 Schlegel Road in Webster. Wire antenna set up will be Friday, June 21.? The triband yagi, rigs, logging network, and power distribution will be set up Saturday morning June 22nd starting at 10:00AM.? The contest itself runs from 2:00 PM Saturday to 2:00 PM Sunday.? Take down begins at 2:00 PM Sunday June 23rd and should be complete by 4:00 PM. We need a few volunteers to help set up wire antennas Friday.?
If you can help, please let me know what times you are
available.? We plan to assign 2 to 3 people to set up each wire
antenna.? It typically will take about 1 to 2 hours. Please also let me know if you can help with Saturday morning equipment/tribander set up or Sunday take down. I have already contacted several of us to bring specific items
(e.g. antennas, rigs, generators, laptops for logging).? I will be sending out preliminary check list for everyone to consider bringing next Friday, June 14th. All are welcome to our Field Day.? You don't need to attend the entire event.? I hope you can join us. 73, Bob Karz, K2OID |

So rather than send a really long email, I have some news that I wanted to share with members.? It is about VHF/UHF digital voice modes, and another method to access our 2m repeater, including DMR > Fusion > DMR.? If you already have a DMR or Fusion capable
radio and a hotspot, this could definitely interest you.
It has some background info for those who have not yet delved into the subject.
I hope you take a couple of minutes to peruse it.? The post and links contained within contain applicable info.? I could do a presentation one day if interest is there as well.

Yes, I heard it very weak Id'd once and then later it I'd at full strength. Time was about 6pm.

Interesting and odd.? I just heard the repeater ID and it was back to normal strength.? It was barely breaking my squelch the last couple of hours.

Repeater Issue
FYI, the repeater is very weak here.? Unknown as to what is the problem, but likely an antenna issue.? It was put up there 9 years ago this month.? But possibly not other issue with the machine.
I will try to get down to the site tomorrow and take a look. We do have a new antenna, but obviously finding a climber at a reasonable cost would be necessary.? Also, our antenna support was thrown together, DX Engineering just came out with some new hardware for tower side mounted antennas. Not knowing what shape things are in I probably will try to shut it down remotely.? If not, maybe when I'm there. Brian |
