Just wondering if anyone has any tools/tips for hunting RFI.? Lately I have noticed S9 noise levels on some bands, though the noise appears
to be very wide-banded.? It is quite evident in the spectrum display when it is present, and seems to cover hf to 6 meters, but worst around the 10Mhz band.?
It will to last for hours and then maybe go away for hours, but when it is present, it will occasionally stop for a few seconds and then start back up.? I seems likely to be a power line arcing issue.
On my AM car radio, it seems to be worse both east and west of my house for maybe a ? to ? of a mile.? Hard to know for sure, as I only have the sound to judge.
I did try walking around with a HT at 137Mhz AM and a 2 meter 3 el yagi, but not much luck, or I didn't go far enough.

XARC Meeting This Thursday 7PM at Web. Rec

We'll catch up on a tiny bit of club business, then see what everyone has been doing. I'm back on the air.
I had been inactive since last November, but a few weeks ago I bought a new base radio FT-991A. ? Set up a 2M/70cm antenna and an hf antenna (finally an outdoor hf antenna). ? In the very early hours I play on HF, later in the mornings I check my Winlink mail, and then I check in on the east coast reflector (WR2ROC), and talk on N2HJD-R, ?then most of the day I'm monitoring 146.44, and have an Echolink link node on that. At my current antenna height, I can reach from my location near LongPond and English over to Lake and the Parkway, over to the Parkway and Manatou, and then as far south as Ridge Road. The node might serve for VHF operators in that area to make more distant contacts.
?
On the road, I finally got my TM-V71A installed in the car with a decent antenna, ?One side of it is monitoring 146.44, the other side is to talk on local repeaters.
?
I gave up on APRS. ? The coverage is not good in Greece from the car, so I only get position reports through if I drive into the city. ? I still have an FT5D, that can do APRS if I'm ever in a situation where that would work.

There are have been many books and documentaries about Amelia Earhart over the years, but this one includes some detail about radio direction finding as a navigation aide, including a demo of using loop antennas. You may find it worthwhile to view.? It is from the Veritasium YouTube channel

Hello all,
Our upcoming meeting schedule is as follows:
If a Zoom connection for the meeting is planned, it will be announced via email to the mailing list before the meeting.
Any presentations will be announced closer to the actual meeting date.? Details will be posted on our website (see the calendar on the website or the events area on the right sidebar menu area).
I would not rule out a Zoom meeting in between these dates, if the need arises.
Anyone with a presentation idea they would like to present to the club, let me know.
