Re: FD2020 Preliminary Results

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I hope everyone had an awesome Field Day. I missed being with the group (I don¡¯t feel the same excitement and enthusiasm from my family about playing radio outside in the bugs and rain all night as I do with you guys! ?).

?

So we won't get to see the final club results until December? Oh well. I'm assuming that any multipliers or bonus points we get as individuals operating from home will not get attributed to the club (since that seems redundant). Hopefully anyone who didn¡¯t participate at the rec center field got to do some operating from home as a Class D or E station. It will be fun to see how individuals fared across the country. I had fun and learned a lot more about Field Day rules and operating than I imagined I would.

?

I am putting together this year's Field Day video. If anyone has photos or video of your operation this year?I will include it in the video to be featured on YouTube. I¡¯m not sure yet if I will have one or two videos ¨C I am planning the focus of the video to be working Field Day from home, but if I get enough content from the club I will expand the focus or create a separate video. If you are interested in contributing content, please send your media to me as soon as possible as I¡¯ll be leaving for vacation on Friday and would like to have a draft ready before then. If your files are too large to email, you may upload them to my Dropbox at this link:

If you haven¡¯t seen the video of last year¡¯s XRX Club Field Day event, you can check it out on YouTube here to relive the memories ?:

Folks,

Another Field Day is in the books.? A bit different this year but still a lot of fun.? I don't think we'll be breaking any records, but I think we did very well given the circumstances.

Here are the results:

We had 60% of our QSOs CW and Digi which count double compared to 48% last year.? Last year with VHF and GOTA stations as well as ARES participation and no social distancing we had 1177 QSOs compared to 782 this year.

In terms of QSO points (remember CW/Digi QSOs double) we will have 1252 points compared to 1737 points last year.

I took a look at the classes of the stations we worked this year compared to last year, and not surprisingly there are big differences.? As you can see below, there were a lot fewer Class A stations, especially for the higher number of rigs per set up and a big increase in stations running commercial power from home (class 1D).? Class 2A and 3A stations were down about two thirds while class 1D stations increased by nearly a factor of 5.? The 1B, 2B, and 1E station also had large increases, apparently due to former club participants electing to go out alone.

While we gave up some bonus points, we still got the CW bulletin and natural power bonuses as well as the 100% emergency power bonus.? It will be interesting to see how we and other groups did when the results come out in December.

If you took part, thank you and I hope you had fun.? If you operated from home don't forget to list your club name as "XRX Radio Club" on your entry form.

Only 363 days until FD 2021!
