Vince,

Hopefully RG&E gets here that quick, but I doubt it.? Air Force probably gets a bit more attention than me.? I have narrowed it down to two poles.? #354 and #352, and I think both of them have a problem.? #354 is worse.? They are just west of Parson Acres.? Drive by with your AM radio on an empty frequency.

I've read that bad lightning arrestors are usually the main culprit, with bad insulators another possible cause.? Rarely it might be arcing to some other metal such as bolts and staples.

RG&E no longer has any info on reporting these issues on their website.? Even when you call the number that says "Talk to a Representative", you get to listen to a series of menu prompts about gas emergencies, power outages and paying your bill.? When I finally got to a person after the fourth menu, they told me I picked the wrong one.? It apparently is in the queue of some mystery department that has no phone?number.

My Story:

During the mid sixties while I was stationed at Lockport Air Force Station, we had some serious noise problems at our GATR (ground to air transmitter receiver) site—I believe we had 20 channels of UHF equipment remoted to Fort Custer AFS in Michigan.? I think it took us a week to sort everything out and got Niagara Mohawk to replace an arcing lightning arrester on one of the power poles to our site.? Of course, at the time everyone was blaming us for not properly maintaining our equipment… LOL
