Not familiar with RS-530, but I've successfully connected a SPARCstation 10 to a Cisco using a CAB-232FC (the older version, not the SS version) - you may need the DCE version for the Cisco (I assume CAB-SS-530-xC) as I imagine the SPARCstation will be DTE. I swear I finally got to understanding this when setting it up, but have now forgotten :-)
