JIMMY JACOBS RESIGNS FROM AEW
- AEW producer and creative writer Jimmy Jacobs has left the company according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling. Jacobs, who was touted as being one of Tony Khan's closest writers, resigned from his position. Jacobs was working with TNA Wrestling when AEW came knocking and he joined the backstage team in June 2023, lasting 16 months on the job. Prior to that, he worked for WWE in the same position but was fired from the company in 2017 after he posted a photo with The Bullet Club on social media when they were filming their own "invasion" of WWE Raw. The former ROH Tag Team champion also laced up his boots one for Ring of Honor earlier this year, losing to Satnam Singh in under a minute. He had previously wrestled one more time for ROH in September 2023. Jacobs continues to wrestle on the independent scene, with his latest match coming at the end of last month.
LATEST BETTING ODDS FOR WRESTLEDREAM
- AEW is back on pay-per-view tonight with WrestleDream. This is only the second-ever WrestleDream after the show was introduced last year as a tribute to Antonio Inoki. The following are the latest odds available. Remember, these odds might change by the time the show starts so be careful if you're betting with your real money. AEW World champion Bryan Danielson is the underdog going in tonight's main event against Jon Moxley and we all know what that means, if Danielson loses, his career is over too. Danielson is currently 6/5 to retain while Moxley is 2/3 favorite to win the title. Mariah May has huge numbers in her favor tonight with her odds set at 1/50 to keep her AEW Women's title while Willow Nightingale is 12/1 for the major upset. Will Ospreay defends his International title in a three-way match and is favorite to retain with 1/4 odds. His opponents, Konosuke Takeshita and Ricochet are 2/1 and 8/1 respectively. Jack Perry takes on Katsuyori Shibata with the TNT title on the
line and Perry is pretty much safe with 1/25 odds in his favor while the Japanese star is 8/1. Will we see new AEW Tag Team champions tonight? Bookmakers think not and The Young Bucks are super favorite to keep their gold with 1/20 odds while Private Party are 7/1. Chris Jericho goes for the ROH World title again but champion Mark Briscoe is 2/5 favorite to keep the title while Jericho is 17/10 to win it for the second time. Jay White, who just recently returned, will take on Adam Page and the former IWGP champion is 5/9 favorite to beat The Hangman who is 7/5. A two-out-of-three-falls match will see two masked stars - Hologram and The Beast Mortos - battle it out. Hologram is 1/10 to keep his undefeated streak going while his opponent is 11/2. Darby Allin faces Brody King in his open challenge and Allin is 1/15 favorite whereas King is 6/1. Brian Cage is favorite to become the new ROH TV champion has he takes on champion Atlantis Jr, with Cage at 5/11 and the champion 33/20 to ret
ain. And The Acclaimed will take on MxM Collection with the scissoring boys 2/9 favorite and MxM having 11/4 odds.
MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS TO DEBUT NEXT WEEK
- The Motor City Machine Guns are coming next week to Friday Night Smackdown. The in-ring veterans' latest vignette aired last night, this time with the addition of helicopters and more distinctive images of Detroit. A sprayed "MCMG" also quickly flashed on the screen before their debut was announced. In a later backstage segment, Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis told DIY and The Street Profits that a new team was making its debut next week. This will be their WWE debut, although Alex Shelley did participate in NXT for a couple of weeks in 2020. Chris Sabin never worked for WWE before.
FOUR-DAY WWE UK TOUR KICKS OFF TOMORROW
- The latest WWE UK tour kicks off tomorrow with Superstars from both Raw and Smackdown having left the United States last night immediately following the conclusion of Smackdown. Cardiff will host the first show at the Utilita Arena and then the tour moves to Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena for a live event on Monday. Tuesday it's Newcastle's time at the Utilita Arena and then the tour wraps up on Wednesday in Manchester at the Co-Op Live. Only the Cardiff show is close to sold out while the other shows have a long way to go, especially the Manchester debut at the Co-Op, which undersold big time. All shows had very expensive ticket prices and the UK audience were not ready to pay premium prices for a house show this time around. Raw is taped on Monday so the next time WWE is live is on Friday, October 18 with Smackdown from Columbia, South Carolina.
RAW GETS MORE COMPETITION FROM MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
- WWE Raw is getting some additional competition this football season as the network ABC announced that they will broadcast six additional Monday Night Football games to boost ratings. The addition of simulcast games on ESPN and ABC spells bad news for Raw since usually simulcast games take a bigger chunk of the WWE audience. Raw will be helped by the fact that it is now two hours and not three, so the third hour will not be there to drag down the overall number. Raw will only be spared twice this season, with the November 11 and December 2 MNF games the only two dates which ESPN will air the games without the simulcast on ABC.
HORNSWOGGLE SIGNS WWE LEGENDS DEAL
- Former WWE Superstar Hornswoggle has revealed that he signed a WWE Legends deal, becoming the latest to sign such a contract following stars such as Diamond Dallas Page, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Jacqueline, and others. Speaking to fans during an ACW Wisconsin show, the 38-year-old said he wanted to break the news to them first because they always supported him throughout his career. "I thought you guys should be the first to know, as of last week, I signed a WWE Legends contract. Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting me, for having my back, for believing in me," Hornswoggle told the crowd. "This is for each and every one of you. Thank you, guys." Hornswoggle worked for WWE for 10 years between 2006 and 2016 and last appeared on WWE television during the 2019 Royal Rumble, chasing Zelina Vega during the women's match.
