I've been avoiding the clips going around so I'm looking forward to it! ======================================================== //->> NEWS FROM THE WRESTLING-ONLINE NEWSWIRE Web version at FENIX EXPECTED TO STAY IN AEW AFTER INJURY TIME ADDED TO CONTRACT- While both Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are on the way to WWE, Fenix will have to wait a little longer, actually, a lot longer to join his brother. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that even though both have refused new deals from AEW and Penta's contract is up really soon, the company has opted to extend Fenix's contract to make up for his extended period of time out injured. This is a common practice used both in WWE and AEW but it was thought that AEW President Tony Khan was going to let Fenix go without adding any extra time to his deal. Fenix was injured in October 2023 and was out of action for six months. After his return in April, he was slightly injured again and returned a month later. He has not wrestled since July 26 for CMLL and his last AEW match was on July 20. Penta's last AEW match came on July 17 but has been wrestling in Mexico lately. DYNAMITE RATING- The Dynamite: Grand Slam episode drew 702,000 viewers, up 15,000 viewers from last week's broadcast. The show had a 0.23 rating in 18-49, up 0.01 from last week and was #3 on the top 50 cable chart for the night. The show was down compared to last year's Grand Slam when it did 984,000 viewers and a 0.36 in 18-49. (Ratings credit: Programming Insider) SARAYA SIGNS ONE-YEAR AEW DEAL- Former AEW Women's champion Saraya has reportedly signed a new one-year deal with the company. The news was broken by Fightful Wrestling yesterday. While Saraya had an optional year in her original deal, Fightful says that this is something different and runs until September 2025. The British star has been working for AEW since September 2022, returning to the ring five years after getting medical clearance to resume her in-ring career. Prior to joining AEW, Saraya was part of WWE until July 2022, working under the name Paige. WWE doctors never cleared her due to her neck injury and was sidelined for years, just collecting a paycheck as WWE had nothing for her. Saraya will be wrestling Jaime Hayter in a Saraya's Rules match tomorrow night on Collision: Grand Slam. MJF CAST IN NETFLIX MOVIE- MJF has been cast in the Netflix movie Happy Gilmore 2, starring Adam Sandler. The exclusive story, published by Deadline, says that his role is still a secret and so is the plot of the movie. Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald will return to the cast and Travis Kelce is expected to do a cameo. MJF made his acting debut in The Iron Claw and just recently finished filming the independent comedy The Floaters along with Seth Green and Aya Cash. The former AEW champion has been off television since All Out earlier this month and his last match was defeating Daniel Garcia. WWE ANNOUNCES 2024 HOLIDAY TOUR- WWE today announced nine live events as part of the 2024 Holiday Tour. The tour will start on Boxing Day with a show at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida. Two shows on December 27 will see Smackdown from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, and house show at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On December 28, it's two live events at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, and another one at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, head to head with AEW's Worlds End pay-per-view. The last four events will be on December 29 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois and at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, and then on December 30 it's a live Raw from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, and the from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The annual tradition of Madison Square Garden on December 26 is still expected to happen despite not being announced yet. The December 30 Raw will be the last Raw on USA Network. SHAWN MICHAELS PROMISES "ONE OF THE BEST" NXT SHOWS FOR CW PREMIERE- Speaking to the Chicago Tribune ahead of next week's NXT debut on The CW, Shawn Michaels promised one of the best shows the brand has ever produced. Tuesday's NXT will be live from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont in front of nearly 7,000 fans and will mark a new era for the brand as it transitions to network television from USA Network on cable. HBK said that they want to make a "big splash" on CW and teased some changes. "We’ll have some big changes, but I think more of that will be from a look and physical standpoint. We will still be what NXT is, which is bringing some of the most talented, young, diverse athletes in all of the nation, and developing them into the WWE superstars of tomorrow," Michaels said. " The hunger, the passion that’s always been the core value of NXT is always going to be there. But certainly we’ll try to put on some pretty cool bells and whistles for the CW launch on October 1." Chicago's own CM Punk will be in the building as he was appointed the special guest referee for the main event match between champion Ethan Page and challenger Trick Williams. Michaels is looking forward to have Punk back, saying that every time he comes to visit, it's not only valuable from a TV standpoint, but also to the up-and-comers who are Superstars in training. "We have numerous fantastic legends and coaches here on NXT, but it is always fantastic when you have a current main roster WWE and global superstars like CM Punk come visit," Michaels said. "He has come down here on various occasions. He’s been very supportive of NXT, the talent and the system that we have here." ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |
