Beware of offspring shop organizing help! #1
When the younger generation gets control of the label maker, some mischief may occur, like these labels at a friend's shop. The dad is a retired Volvo mechanic; the son a chief engineer on container vessels. We all probably have some "crap files".. or "futility knives" Dan -- Dan 53 2wd Wagon Eugene, OR

Steering gear box 10
Hi. Im wondering... 100% clueless on a 57 Wagon's steering but I know Ive never liked mine... it steers like a tractor. LOSE. I tried having my mechanic install an after market adapter called "Tightsteer" or something I bought at Walcks but it didnt fit... even tho it was supposedly the right part. Does a wagon use a Pitman Arm? I see those for sale at Kaisers. Or should I try and find a whole steering gear box insides from a Willys salvage yard?

I'm ready to put my Ross steering box together after a rebuild. What advice can you offer about a sealant to use on the bolts and a gasket sealant for the cover plate?

Good gosh... piece by piece by piece... My body guy told me the wing vent's metal center bar on the driver side is rusted out badly. It looks by the diagram I found it's a whole triangular unit (?) Is that correct? Any ideas a place I might find one?

Hot Rod Willys 25
Did any of you see the latest episode of Texas Metal. They took a beautifully restored 1960 pickup from North Dakota and stripped it to bare metal then cut the cab into 4 pieces. The plan is to widen and lengthen it, put it on a custom chassis and drop in a Hellcat engine. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Just remember, anyone can restore a vehicle. It takes balls to cut up a classic. :-) John '56 Pickup TKER TOY Graham, Wash.

photos n stuff
The recent photos posted get an award "compactness"- meaning small file sizes that don't soak up storage at groups.io. If you want to see an old picture from an email to the group, at groups.io- our willystech section-there is a folder for them. They can be sorted in various ways to find things. 236 in the folder right now. Here's a different slant on modification- the Holley Sniper fuel injection system- on a jeep- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsgn_nARKhw Comparing the Holley Sniper EFI vs Carburetor on a Willys Jeep The first section showcases EFI on some pretty extreme angles - any steeper and Ib www.youtube.com Close to the end of the video he compares the carb with the fuel injection- and has another video with installation details. Fw: Willystech posting 4
Thought I'd pass this along, from Andrew in New Zealand. What a pretty wagon- right hand drive. Gets the clean shop award, too. Keep an eye out for it next time you're in Australia. Dan From: Andrew Wells <nz120@...> Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2022 1:03 PM To: 'Dan Mulholland' <mulhollanddr@...> Subject: RE: Willystech posting Dan received fine thanks. Will pack and put in the post. Don¡¯t expect it in a hurry ¨C with Covid19 the post has been terribly slow ¨C often takes several weeks before NZPost can get space on a plane¡. I do regret (sometimes) selling my 1951, but it didn¡¯t get much use and I had too many other cars! I bought it on a whim at an auction in 2010 and sold it on 2019¡..most of my other cars are Minis (or Moke) so that at least the mechanicals are the same which makes it easier for spares and tools. The Willys was a real orphan here in NZ! (it went to Australia after I sold it). regards Andrew -- Dan 53 2wd Wagon Eugene, OR

New project 4
Fellow Willystech members, Looking for a few parts for my new wagon project, got a good deal on it: Actually, this is an exciting "garden art" project; it includes a unique, carefully balanced and engineered pivoting system consisting of bolts attaching the hood to rusty old plumbing pipe, secured to the ground with a maul. The pivoting system allows the covered area to be accessed from above, acting just like a hood. Adding a bumper and front fenders would lend authenticity, but would sacrifice the storage area and convenient access. It appears that the wagon has misaligned eyes. That's what we do when the leaves are coming down in Oregon. Dan -- Dan 53 2wd Wagon Eugene, OR
