My sending unit would register empty when the tank was full...the solution was to adjust the little metal tabs on the back that "limit" the range of the armature.

I read the Bosch motor is a little less than 50hp that should push the jeep along fine unless you want highway speeds.? The Nissan Leaf motor is about 150hp and there is likely to be plenty of Leaf

The motor he's using is a Bosch SMG 180/120, which has been used in several electric cars, not just the Smart Car.

I replaced my tank 3 years ago with a plastic tank and had similar issues with the sending unit. I replaced the grounding wire twice as I was fairly certain that was my problem. If you have new gauges

So GL-5 spec oil cannot be used with brass (i.e. syncros in tranny).
I've had a *really* hard time finding GL-4 at a reasonable price, but GL-1 is available from NAPA.
