Air Pump & Other Issues

Dinarte: Since I believe you're in South America if I remember correctly,
I'm going to take pity on you and explain "nauga's" to you and spare you
any more confusion from these American funny guys. Naugahyde is a vinyl
like man made material used for covering vehicle seats and other things.
Nauga's are a make believe animal from which the "hyde" is derived.

Rick &Vern & Ross & Chuck: Thanks for your off list help. Ross' note hit
on something that finally turned on that dim light bulb over my head. He
mentioned the vacuum operated check valve that prevented exhaust gases from
backing up through the air injection into the exhaust and frying the vacuum
& air pump system. This valve was between the driver's side exhaust
manifold & the belly pipe. Previously I was under the impression that this
valve was sending exhaust gas into the intake for reburn. Now I realize
that this is where the air pump was injecting air into the exhaust. Now I
have no fears since there's no way the air pump was sending air into the
valves or it could have been affecting engine operating temp. (By the way,
the "stop it, you're scaring me" line is from a movie that my friends and I
quote. Guess it loses it's humor/sarcasm when you can't hear it in the
correct voice :^) I wasn't really scared, honest.) Anyway, I think I got
this one beat and know how I'm going to take care of the mess.

Bill: I am going to dump almost all this crap. And you'll be glad to know
that the factory air conditioning pump is being relocated to where the air
pump was for the purpose of providing on-board compressed air.

Rick G. in Az: Chuck previously set me straight on the Digest archive and
I have a moderation suggestion for post-ers that would help us digesters.
Please trim messages when you hit that "reply w/ history" button. It gets
old scrolling through the same responses over & over as people carry on a
thread. Plus snip out the list added Willys Tech ads at the end. I've
had as many of ten of these in a row at the end of a post within the 25
posts in a digest. That's my one peeve about digest mode, thanks for
letting me vent.

Again thanks to all who helped me on this air pump thing. By the way,
Chuck sent me some great diagrams, off list, of vacuum systems. (even
though they were for IH V8's, but they were very similar)

PS, Vern I'll keep an eye out for that ramblin' guy.
