Here in Wyoming rust is not a big issue but with a bare frame sitting in
the yard perhaps I should do something to insure it lasts another 40+
years. I see adds for POR 15, Miracle Paint #1 Rust Killer, and frame
paint just to mention a few. Are there any recomended/tried and true
frame paints? I would rather not sand blast because the rust is surface
only and I have plenty of work to keep a lazy guy like me busy all
summer.
I just used POR-15 on my frame this spring. I got a decent degreaser,
gave it a few good washes, scraped and wire brushed to get any loose
rust and pealing paint off, then used the POR-15 kit (acid etch, por-15,
tie-coat primer). I am happy with the results but can't testify as
to the long haul with it. They claim to be the most permanent thing
on the planet, and it looks good too.
