I'm going to say maybe!? The Ammeter doesn't care about voltage, however what is the current range, for example if you have a 30 amp ammeter AND a 30 amp alternator, yes, if for instance you have the same 30 amp ammeter and a 60 amp alternator..........? you can burn out the ammeter!
