Try reviewing the early CJ sales brochures. They show an odd directional "V" style tread as well as the military NDT type. Here's a 1949 brochure that covered the 2A and?and the 3A.

I don't know what your road experience is with NDT's but mine over many years is they are military off road designed tires and at higher speeds on paved roads that are wet or icy they can be very dangerous. The WWII NDT's fare worse then the post WWII NDCC's but neither is safe at 50 MPH on paved slippery roads.
