Re: Speedi sleeve

Richard,

Good question.? It would involve removing the transmission, bell housing, clutch, flywheel, oil pan, more.? Then replacing the seal, reassembling with new clutch.? Makes me tired just thinking about it.? One advantage is no need to remover the crankshaft- compared to a remove and replace operation on that-and that it could be done without removing the engine.

I'm lucky in that I have an odd garage- one half of it, underneath, used to be the sawdust pit.? Many houses here were heated with waste sawdust from the lumber mills back in the 30's.? Anyway, I have full access to the underside of the car, kind of like at those jiffylube places.?

Still, there are other priorities, and some body parts-mine- don't work like they used to.? I did take the wagon out for a short ride yesterday- it runs well, and everyone loves to see it.? It's a time machine, after all.

Dan

Nice idea, but how would you get it on?

Hi everyone,

Been working on a couple of boat trailers, and problems with pitted and rusty spindles- in the area where the seal is supposed to keep out water- the inside- is a problem on one axle end on both trailers.? I stumbled across references to this product, which is a stainless steel sleeve that covers up the problems.? We'll see.

Wonderering if anyone uses this product on the rear end of a Willys 4 crankshaft, to clean up a pitted area where the rear seal is supposed to seal things up.
