Re: SAS, N. Africa, WWII Photo

Flowers, Curt

Yes, that's the "Phantom Major", himself, David Sterling on the right.

Hollywood has its own ways of creating TV series, but one would think the
SAS, North Africa, 1940-1942 (or therabouts) was the basis for "The Rat
Patrol". Though, no Americans ever served with the SAS in N. Africa.

The guns are Vickers K machine guns. An aircraft-to-aircraft weapon taken
off of obsolete bi-planes and scrounged by the SAS. Sirling used them to
shoot up planes on German airfields behind the front.

What an absolutely dynomite photo! Got any more?

British Special Air Services, North Africa, WWII.

Could this be the basis of "The Rat Patrol"?
