Re: N6API cases

John,

Here is a photo of my case:? It is thing:?

Not sure if you have tried it, but mine does run on usb power. Have the internal buck set just below 4V. Mine was based on the design by Jerry (K0ES). He also found a nice stand in thingiverse that I modified.?

And 3D printing is addictive, and time consuming. Reminds me a little bit of programming Fortran with punch cards having to wait for your output to be put in your mailbox... Very time consuming!

Jerry,

Here is the published thing inspired by your design. Always easier to modify than to create from scratch! Appreciate the head start.

Re: N6API cases

Hi Mark:

When I designed the case originally I thought along the same lines as you. I just did not want to solder The STM32 in permanently.

Excellent choice though for making the case easy for travel. I look forward to seeing your case. I am a noob when it comes to 3D design and printing.

I am in the process of upgrading my Creality Ender-3 Pro with a new motherboard and an autoleveler and a few other items.

I really enjoy 3d Printing. Hopefully someone will be able to benefit from my cases. They are my first set of designs. It is great that we can take designs and improve on them. Everyone wins!

Thanks again Mark!

Rats,

?

Wished I had seen this a week ago¡ I have a similar one that I will publish on thingiverse this weekend.?

?

The only real difference is that I made my thinner (27mm) by soldering the stm32 to the board and putting the programming pins under it. I wanted it as small as possible for travel.

Hey Bruce,

?

Just a thought, but probably shouldn't post the GCode, at least not with ample warnings, since GCode is for a specific machine. Bed sizes can be bigger, extrusion rates different, bed leveling settings needed (or not), hot end temperatures different, etc. Anyways, it's rare for raw GCode to be shared and potentially dangerous. STL's are preferred?(or similar)

?

Jerry,

Thanks, I am ok now. It was pretty easy to duplicated it in Fusion 360. So when ahead and did it Just working out the usual nits where things are off 0.5mm. ?

?

Pretty much the same design, just trying to make it thinner for travel. I will share it when I am done. Nice design you did!

Mark,

I did the original on Fusion 360. I'll be glad to send you whatever you need. What format is that?

Re: Case for the STM32 version #case #stm32 #build

Jerry,

Any chance you can share the original CAD files? I need to make some mods since I am not going to use the double headers on the lcd (soldering the stm32 directly to the board).

thanks!

Re: USB for powering STM32 version

OK this does work! Purchased a 2.5mm to usb 2 adapter from Amazon. ?And it appears to work on both my 2.2 and 3.2 versions using the original boards (where you had all those wires all over the place ;-) ). BTW: For some reason, I have to run my bucks on these boards at >4V, so not relying on the buck to up the input voltage from the usb.

I suspect it will work on the 2A boards I have. Happy days, one less power adapter when traveling!

USB for powering STM32 version

(Sorry two queries in one day...)

Building the stm32 version with the "long" 2a board for travel. Has anybody tried running a USB to barrel cable and powering it off your laptop? ?Spec says 500ma limit on usb 2 and 900ma on usb 3.

Thinking of trying to travel light...

I've built 5 of these tutors and the speakers sound fine to me.

Re: W8BH Morse Tutor (ESP32 Rev 2B) Build Notes #build #esp32

The 2.8 inch displays for a W8BH Morse Tutor (ESP32 Rev 2B) that were shipped on 4 JAN came in today (25 JAN). So that took 21 days to get here.

Today is Chinese New Year. So in a couple of weeks, the Chinese should all be back from holiday. I think I will wait until then to place any more orders from China.

Re: anybody have an extra board?

Too bad... I have several extra of both versions... :) In case anyone else comes along, I could probably part with one.

Re: anybody have an extra board?

Never mind. Just ordered 5 boards.? Looks like I will have some extras in a month or so when they arrive.

Mark

Looking for a board to populate. Can order from China if necessary, but just don't want to end up with extra boards to get rid of. :-)

Thanks
