Binary for STM32 Blue Pill
#stm32
Greetings, The STM32F103C8T6 'Blue Pill' may be programmed with an ST-LINK V2 dongle using the st-flash utility, available from The binary is available from Command line (on a Linux system): $ st-flash write filename.bin 0x8000000 Advantage: The stlink utilities are much easier to install than the STM32 tool chain. Disadvantage: It is a binary blob, so the source code cannot be edited with your callsign. However, there is a feature in Config > Callsign which allows you to enter your callsign with your key. Once that is done, your callsign will appear on the Splash Screen, and will be used in Receive > QSO. Regards, Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor |

Greetings,
The W8BH Morse Tutor is mentioned on the following Morse code resource sites: CWOps Morse Code Ninja It was also mentioned in August 2019 at Hackaday. Regards, Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor |
W8BH pc boards
#pcb
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHas anyone ordered any of the pc boards for the W8BH morse code tutor?? Where did you order them?? How many did you order?? How much did they cost?I have ordered from JLCPCB in the past but only while they had a promotion going.? I have not bought any boards for over a year so am wondering what these boards are costing from board houses. Thank you. Jim Pruitt WA7DUY |

I ordered five ESP32 PCBs from JLCPCB for $7.30.

There is a choice of S&H which will determine your final cost. DHL shipping is a little over $16. I chose Economy shipping for $6.19. Then I applied a $5.00 coupon, so the total shipping was $1.19. So my total for five ESP32 PCBs came to $8.49, or $1.70 per PCB. Regards, Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor On Tue, Nov 19, 2019 at 5:54 AM Jim Pruitt <jpruitt67@...> wrote:

I found these in the FAQs at JLCPCB: Shipping Methods: Shipping Costs: Shipment Tracking: So if you ordered five ESP32 PCBs for $7.30 and chose DHL shipping ($16.81), the total cost would be $24.11. You would receive the PCBs in 3 to 5 days. That comes to about $4.82 per PCB. Re: Welcome
Greetings,
I have basically setup the Group. Please note that nothing is engraved in stone. The only constant is change. Being brand new to starting a Group, I still have a lot to learn. I am looking forward to some good discussions about Bruce's W8BH Morse Tutor, and all related topics, such as keys and paddles, and ways of learning the Morse code, and more. Welcome. I also found the St-link to be the simplest way to program the blue pill. Could not get the usb way to work on all blue-pills. And the serial adapter works, ?but the first one was bad (or I blew it up).? mark |

I know there are other manufacturers out there, but I ordered my very first set of boards from JLCPCB and it went very smoothly.?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have used JLCPCB exclusively. ?They are excellent - especially for small quantity test boards. ?Once the test board has passed all of your design based testing, larger quantity production runs can be done through many PCB production houses. ?Several are here in the states.?I am always amazed how fast I get small quantities from JLCPCB. ? 6! You can also use the ST-Link direct from the Arduino IDE, just choose the correct programmer in the Tools menu! :-)

For some reason (as yet I have not figured out why) the Blue Pill (STM32) sometimes is very obstinate when Downloading the binary from the Arduino IDE.
I have loaded the ST Micro tools. I use the ST tool to download the binary that is output by the IDE. I never had enough time to troubleshoot the issue. If you have trouble getting the binary downloaded, let me know and I can post the exact procedures to get the binary downloaded. 73 - John - N6API Sent from my iPhone 6! John J. Re: Switching email addresses for groups.io
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMark,? you can just change your subscription email address without joining under another address or quitting the group and then rejoining.? To do that log in to your groups.io account.? Once logged in then go to this group home page /g/w8bhMorseTutor? then click on the drop down arrow to the right of your name in the top bar and select account.? In those settings it lists your email address (and password but not shown).? You can change your email address there.? The one gotcha or be aware is that it changes your email address for all of your groups.io groups that you are a member.? Perhaps you want that, and perhaps you do not but be aware of it.? If you did not want to change it for all of your groups.io groups then you would need to do what you did and create a new groups.io account under your new email address and join the group with it.I am not sure if that helps or not. Good luck. Jim Pruitt WA7DUY On 11/30/2019 9:37 AM, Mark Hatch AJ6CU

Re: Files section
#resource
Hello Jim, WA7DUY, This is a Free Group that has 1GB of storage space. Once that 1GB has been used, I have it setup to delete old message attachments. The Only Constant is Change. Messages are not counted towards storage space. The following GitHub repositories have files related to the W8BH Morse Tutor (which is currently under active development): Tutorials, Builder Guide, User Guide Source code and Gerbers for STM32 and ESP32 versions Source code for Mega 2560 version: Source code for Mega 2560 contributed mods (GM4CID, so far): I think that volatile files that are frequently updated are best kept at GitHub? Do you have a static file that you wish to upload to the Files section of the Group? If you would like to try, please do, and let me know what happens. I have not done anything with the Files section yet, so I do not know how to configure it, yet. ;-D On Sun, Dec 1, 2019 at 1:29 AM Jim Pruitt <jpruitt67@...> wrote:

Re: Switching email addresses for groups.io
To change your Group email address...
Using email, I would just subscribe to the Group with the new email address that you want to use, then unsubscribe the old email address that you do not want to use. The Group is setup so that non-members can read Messages at the Group Web-site. Messages sent to the Group via email will be received by the whole group. The message I deleted was the public one, since you listed two email addresses in the message. Those are two less email addresses for the SpamBots to collect, eh? Group Email Addresses Post: [email protected] Subscribe: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [email protected] Group Owner: [email protected] Help: [email protected] Regards, Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor -- Regards, Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor |
Keys and Paddles
#keys
Greetings, On 11 November I had a functioning DIY Dual Lever Paddle that I started in September. It is made of brass with a steel base and weights 3 pounds 15.75 ounces. I have it hooked up to my W8BH Morse Tutor. During the build process, I drew many diagrams and took some snapshots of the work-in-progress paddle. I put these up on Google Drive. diagrams: snapshots: I made a short video clip and put it up at YouTube: Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor -- Regards, Ken, KM4NFQ "Not Fully Qualified" /g/w8bhMorseTutor |
