Re: SD Reader Difficulty (MorseTutor, ESP32 version)

Vince,

Hate to differ with you, but despite all your suggestions, the solution to the SD card read failure is, as Bruce suggests, a coding issue.
Tinkering with the code line values in Bruce¡¯s hack, results in a well-performing Tutor.

Secrets to getting the card to work.

First, review page 9 of the User Guide (Part 10) found here
Then,
1. Ensure you are formatting the card in FAT, not FAT-32, not ex-FAT ... just FAT.
?? (if you see the first letter truncated on the filename, it's a good indication the volume format is incorrect)
2. Ensure your filenames are following the MS-DOS 8.3 filename standard and without spaces in the filename.
3. Ensure your files are plain text files when they are saved.
4. Most importantly, insert the card into reader and then turn on the power to the Tutor. The display does not support hot plugging the memory card.

If you build your card on other operating systems like MACOS, you may see a structure that looks like this where one filename has a leading underscore "_" character:

_TEST.TXT
TEST.TXT
in which case you select the lower of the two files.
