Thank you for the tip. ?I believe the change ("hack") had already be performed so I changed it back to a "1". Still no success. ?I returned the value to "0" and saved the sketch, followed by?
recompiling/upload. ?The SD card reader now is performing perfectly. ?By the way, my Arduino IDE prompted me to update my libraries...not sure that played a role but at least I am up-to-date.
Hope this post is useful to the others who have had problems with the SD card reader.
