Digital mode overview presentation dated July ¡®24.
May be useful for the newer hams¡ trying to make sense of it all.
CW is on the list, the original ones and zeros mode.
Unfortunately, little about digital radio voice modes, but thats a presentation of it¡¯s own.

Another hurricane for Florida's west coast?
For the
last several days the NHC has been watching a disturbed area in the
southwestern Caribbean generally associated with the seasonal central
American gyre.? While there is a 40% chance that this area will
develop into a tropical system over the next seven days, all of the major
models are in agreement that whatever happens to develop, once in the Gulf
of Mexico, will slowly move toward the west coast of Florida and at least
two of the most reliable models are forecasting a significant
hurricane.? While there is high model agreement on a Florida landfall,
which is? unusual this far out in time, the date spread in the models
ranges from October 7-11. The chance of whatever develops affecting the Texas coast are
low and the climatology record shows that late September and October
tropical systems recurve more sharply in the Gulf and rarely reach the
coast west of the Mississippi River.? However, if I lived in Florida,
I would be quite concerned. Jim Robinson, W5ZYX Get for

Re: FCC License Renewal Tip (from SADRC)
These instructions are good but I also advise a search on YouTube for pertinent videos. I had to go through this when I added my GMRS license at the FCC website. You are correct in your assessment. It is not a user friendly process. On Tue, Sep 24, 2024, 9:44 AM Laura WW7OO McDonald via <bonnieclyderainy=[email protected]> wrote:

Supports DMR and dual-SIM¡¯s. I don¡¯t think this would replace your current smartphone, yet costs almost as much as one. Appears there is no subscription, runs android, supports 5g, it¡¯s ¡®unlocked¡¯ both VHF/UHF and cellular, unlike . Appears to be a ruggedized 5g cellphone with GMRS, MURS, HAM and public service transmit capacity at 4 watts, a great speaker, large battery, and fancy camera. Might be too big to fit in your purse, or pants pocket.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...
If one
looks at the latest GOES satellite images of the western Caribbean, things
appear nice and quiet. And, in fact, they are.? Unfortunately,
however, the approaching fall season is changing the dynamics in that part
of the world and not necessarily in a manner favorable to the Gulf of
Mexico. To quickly
summarize, the Central American Gyre (seasonal counter clockwise
circulation) that I wrote about during the early part of hurricane season
has returned and the National Hurricane Center is giving a 30% chance of a
tropical system developing in the western Caribbean over the next seven
days. Now, this is where
things get interesting.?? The two principal global models (ECMWF and GFS) both develop a
hurricane and move it into the Gulf.? The last several runs of ECMWF
have generally favored a path toward Louisiana or southeast Texas while GFS
has been pretty consistent with a possible Florida landfall.?
Unfortunately the latest runs of ECMWF and GFS have both taken a liking to
the Texas and Louisiana coasts. As you know, models that depict the movement of something that
is yet to even exist vary considerably from run to run and the fact that
both of the attached images imply a Texas target, the models will
undoubtedly have numerous changes over the next week.? And, if its a
little reassuring, the latest Canadian and German ICON runs are favoring
the eastern Gulf.? It seems pretty certain to me, however, that if a
system develops it will end up somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico. Obviously I will be working on updates
as things develop, though perhaps not daily yet, and will share as I do
so. The latest tropical
weather outlook follows below and the GFS and ECMWF images are
attached.? ECMWF is depicting a tropical storm, and GFS a major
hurricane. Jim Robinson,
