High School Students Contact International Space Staton via Radio!

I just happened to be walking by a TV a few days ago and caught this story on the air. It's about 5 minutes long.... minus whatever advertisement they make you watch and worth the time.

Upcoming Hamfests

Bill mentioned an upcoming hamfest in Hoxie, AR at the meeting last month. Here is a link and a couple others that may be of interest.

1/27/24 - Winterfest, ARRL Midwest Division Convention, Collinsville, IL (east of St. Louis) ?-
2/16/24 - LCARC Winter-Fest, Hoxie, AR -
3/23/24 - Ozark Amateur Radio Society Hamfest, Mt. Vernon -

Club Meeting tonight

We will be having our monthly meeting this evening at 6:00pm. There is a slight possibility of a little freezing precipitation this afternoon, but hopefully nothing major. Please use your best judgement on whether you think you can make it or not. Nothing major on the agenda this evening. We’re going to discuss scheduling a technician class, getting up and going with ARES, and discuss goals for 2024.?

We hope everyone will be able to make it!?

Eric

Keep your Baofeng in the Glovebox!!

Just a little Christmas warning!! :) Hope everyone has a Happy and safe Christmas!

Eric

Fox Hunting Edification & Amazement

I printed the attached file which is a map of West Plains. I then emailed it to the UPS Store and Angie laminated it for me. I got both 8.5x11 and 11x17. I intend to use this with a compass, straight edge, and dry erase marker just like the basic orienteering shown in this video.

Have a good weekend, 73

SkyWarn Recognition Friday and Saturday

Passing this along…. The closest repeater to access the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System (SMLRS) is the Willow Springs 146.985 repeater or Allstar node 565502. The Regional (N0NWS) system… Fordland?145.490, Licking 146.850,?EchoLink Node: 291849 or N0NWS-R, or?AllStarLink Node: 4932. If you have a decent external antenna, you can probably hit the Fordland repeater with a mobile. Check for further info on these systems at?or?If you could get into their simplex net in 145.55, that would be awesome! Heard they’re going to have 3 net controllers spread out across the region. The closest I know of is Rogersville, so it might be difficult, but get those antennas up high and kick on the amp!

———————————————

The annual Skywarn recognition day will be celebrated by Southwest Missouri Regional Skywarn?Friday December 1st from 6 PM?thru Saturday the 2nd until 6PM.?

Hams are invited to check in on the SMLRS repeater system and the N0NWS repeater system as well as Skywarn simplex 146.55.? Schedule as follows:

7 PM?Simplex net 146.55

Re: Shared Strippers and Crimpers?

Amen to not having too many tools! That link from HRO looks like a good buy too. Several options. I’ve primarily crimped rg-58, 8x, rg8u, lmr400… that’s about it I guess. One of those usually fits my amateur needs. Some bigger stuff at work. I have a set of Anderson power pole crimpers somewhere…. If I can find where I laid them, you or anyone else are welcome to borrow them.

Also, glad to see you’re getting your settings figured out on your Yaesu!?
