Does anyone know what year Congress Street was first paved? A friend says he remembers going to the Plaza Theatre when Congress was still dirt. I don't think he (or the Plaza Theatre) is old enough.

As far as I can tell from old postcards, Congress, near the Plaza, was paved around 1911-1912. Unless your friend is well on into their hundreds, I don't think they are correct.

Memory is a funny thing, though. It could be your friend remembers one of the old side streets?
