Kiddyland
I was looking at the photo of the Kiddyland fire truck
and noticed the lettering indicated the location as "Speedway east of Maple". I had always remembered the amusement park being in the NE quadrant of Speedway and Alvernon. There a currently no streets named Maple in that area although there are several named after trees such as Walnut and Sycamore. Is it possible that when the area was redevleoped that Maple St was eliminated? Or am I misremembering the location of Kiddyland? azbluewhale |

Hi, Azbluewhale: The piccie has '1949' handwrit on it. Alas, the 1943 map posted on VT ends at Winstel, and does not indicate whether Alvernon had been named Maple at the time or if there had been a minor Maple street just east of Alvernon. Cheers, Les. ------------------------------ On Mon, Sep 7, 2015 2:35 PM MST rlireland@... [vanishingtucson] wrote:

?I worked at Kiddyland as a kid.? Yes there is a Maple street. Going North from Speedway you had Helen, Maple, Drachman, Adams, Lee, and? Elm.? Lived on Adams east of Tucson Blvd. I? think Elm had several names and finally have ended up now being Pima. Ran several rides, but like the merry Go Round as we used a salt timer to time the rides.
