Every 4th of July we looked forward to getting our spot on Mission Rd when our kids were younger and the crowds got bigger and bigger every year. But I did go to work for awhile in the early 1980's for the Sheriff's department when the office was on Mission Rd so we were able to go park on the county property.
My boys loved the fireworks but I think their favorite time was when the side of the mountain would catch fire and they'd see the fire trucks. This would happen almost every year but if it didn't they'd get disappointed. That's just one of the nice memories I have as they are grown now . Later my husband and I would just park out on Valencia near Indian Agency Rd not far from our home and we had a clear view of A mountain at the time, we'd set outside the car listening to the radio station playing patriotic music .
I hope it doesn't rain on the 4th of July like it use to do some years.
But anyway I wish you all out there in my old hometown of Tucson a Happy 4th of July !!
I do miss it there a lot. And I hope we are able to get out there soon to visit our old Tucson homies !!
