I had the privilege to met Mr. Douglas several times when I was a young man. Us kids would follow the arroyo north on Saturdays until we came to his place and the pollo fields. He was usually walking around and would give us some kind words. We were there to hopefully be picked to walk the ponies in a circle to cool them off and then they would switch and we cooled the other one down. We made a whopping $5.00 for the day and that was great plus we got to be around horses. Off to the "train shop" or the "Red Barn" to spend our earnings!

I knew Mr. Douglas as well. He had a pond on his Ft. Lowell property (Douglas Farm). He sold us fishing licenses to fish there.
When I was in college (UA) in 1969 I went to Mr. Douglas at Southern Arizona Bank at Speedway/Alvernon to ask for a $500 student loan. My monthly payments after leaving UA were $29.35! Good memories!
