We went there in the early '80's due to the fact it was the only club that didn't card you (we were 18 and drinking age was 19 at the time). We went with some young lady friends of ours and didn't know it was mostly a gay club until we got there. I remember this attractive "lady" trying to buy me a drink. Something didn't seem right about this "lady", so I declined. I later found out this person was the transvestite singer performing that night.
I'm not gay, but there never was a feeling that we were out of place and everyone was very nice and we always had a good time (we even got some dates from 2 ladies we met who thought we were gay at first, lol).
I don't know what happened to it.
