Does anyone still recall that the Stone Ave underpass is
nicknamed "Lake Elmira" when it fills with water ?
In Tucson's early days, a woman named Elmira would go swimming in the
underpass every time it flooded...........therefore the nickname.
The photos on tv this week reminded me of that bit of trivia.
