Nov 18 Subzero Glitter Fridge & Maureen Collier

Bet you're still hot from their last dance at VCD! Now, you'll be steaming again with Bellingham's Sub-Zero Glitter Fridge - the only name that so far has dared to attempt defining this mysterious trio of Bellingham-based Celtic music investigators. Simultaneously frosty and electrified, darkling and dazzling, SZGF provides reliable, prolonged music that is unquestionably necessary and yet a little more luxury than you thought you needed. Guaranteed to take up lots of valuable floorspace, store cake and ice cream responsibly. Now with higher emissions, Cayley Schmid on fiddle, Sam Vogt on guitar, and David Pender Lofgren on bodhran.

Vancouver's own Maureen Collier will elevate the temperature.

Scandy dancers!
On Wednesday, October 18, we have a short concert followed by dancing, at the Scandinavian Centre. Don't dance? - then enjoy the rest of the evening as part of the concert! The musicians are also dancers, and will lead us through sets and mixers.
The bar will be open, and refreshments available cabaret style. Entry $10 for SDV members, $20 for visitors.
6540 Thomas Street, Burnaby, Doors open 7pm for concert at 7:30pm
Danish set dances are like square dances, and mixers are mostly circle dances in which one changes partners. Some are in contra lines. No fancy footwork required, and the sequences will be taught/called.
On Thursday, October 19, the Mads Hansen Kapel will be playing for Rogue Folk Club, at St James Community Square, West 10th Avenue, Kitsilano. Poster attached. This will be a fun evening!
