Outdoor open-band contradance Saturday, August 19th, from 2:30-5:30pm, at Burnaby Central Park - lower South pond (by Pitch and Putt). Organized by Prairie Wolfe in cooperation with VCD. This free picnic-style gathering is open to contradancers, fiddle-tune jammers, English Country dancers, Morris teams, VFSS/singers, Beltaners, ceilidh/square/Scandi dancers, drummers, thespians/storytellers, other participatory cultural/community groups¡ and just plain folk. There is no agenda, just come and enjoy the day with others. Costumes, croquet, drumming, Bocce, stilts, hula hoops, juggling, bubbles, face painting, marshmallow wars, and the like are encouraged. PLUS! It is cleverly timed to overlap the above announced 2:30 outdoor open-band contradance, (As with the dance, Sunday, August 20th is the backup date in the event of rain, 2:00pm.) Bring your own picnic lunch, instruments for jamming, folding table and lawn chairs, maybe a canopy, and come join the fun!
