Celebrate the wee bit of Irish in all of us!
Dance up a storm with Teapot Tempest: Michael Burnyeat (fiddle), Russell Shumsky (marimba) & Joe Bourchier (guitar).
Teapot Tempest plays contemporary and traditional tunes with infectious rhythm and passion.
Bob Rentz will call dances that amplify your dancing pleasure and instill a bit of magic!

Please help us by bringing soft soled shoes and a water bottle.

(2) Festival du Bois FREE contradance FRIDAY March 24 (ADVANCE TICKETS REQUIRED)

Kicking off Maillardville¡¯s 34th annual music and culture Festival du Bois weekend March 24-26 is a FREE performance and contradance Friday night at Maclin Park in Coquitlam.
Band Podorythmie, including Prairie Wolfe whose band Ground Effect just played at St. James 2 weeks ago, opens the evening with a performance 7:00-8:00, followed by a contradance with Vancouver¡¯s premier contradance band, The Sybaritic String Band, joined by caller Sherry Nevins from Seattle.

?¡°¡­The Sybaritic String Band have been kicking off the festival with a Friday night dance in fine style for the past few years and whenever they hit the stage, the dancers know it¡¯s time to get a partner and kick up their heels!
The Sybs, as they're affectionately called, have been making music together for more years than any of them care to remember! They play a mix of traditional Quebecois, Celtic, Appalachian, Klezmer and modern music, including tunes composed by the band members.?Their music ranges from high-energy reels and breakdowns to flowing jigs and beautiful waltzes.
The Sybs are:?Rich Sobel?(fiddle and peds),?Claire McCague?(recorder, saxophones),?Leith Davis?(piano) and?Rob MacGregor?(mandolin).?Sherry Nevins?is a promoter of contradancing and a popular and in-demand contradance caller from Seattle.¡±

¡°¡­Come experience the joyous sounds and foot-stomping rhythms of Podorythmie at Festival du Bois 2023! Hailing from the U.S., France, and Canada, this musical group will bring the spirit of French Canadian music and dance to life. Join them on Friday, Mar. 24 from 7-8pm on the Main Stage with Devon and Louis Leger, catch them on Saturday, Mar. 25 from 3-330pm in the Children's Tent, or on Sunday, Mar 26 from 1-130pm at Mackin House. With fiddle, accordion, songs, hard shoe step dancing, and even crankie (moving panorama) shows, Podorythmie's performances are sure to be a unique and unforgettable experience.
