It looks like they are trying to modernize their counting system (by scanning ballots in) but they are not trying to vote direct from the actual machines at the polls…yet.? There are some serious challenges to being able to implement that nationwide for some time.

The important part is that they hand-counted all the votes to re-tally the votes.? I think almost all of the re-counts that took place in 2020 were also hand-counts.? As long as they continue to do that to verify their results, I think we’re good to go.
