January 5, 2023:
- BUGFIX: Editing a file from the Files search result page resulted in a

- CHANGE: New groups dedicated to sharing tags, tubes, PaintShopPro files, GIFs, Incredimail or other stationery or graphics will no longer be permitted.
January 4, 2023:
- BUGFIX: With the
/getactivitylog API endpoint, some values of action were not parsed correctly.

- BUGFIX: For owner defined group footers, when generating the HTML version of them, including newlines with the

Changes to the site this week:
December 16, 2022:
- INTERNAL: Pushed to production the first part of a re-write of how we handle and store email delivery history. When complete, the new system will store multiple success delivery notices as well as make accessing all email delivery history easier for typical use cases.
- NEW: Improved the Email Delivery History pages, including additional subject lines.
- BUGFIX: When viewing the Email Delivery History pages, sometimes the most recent unsuccessful attempt was not displayed.
December 15, 2022:
- INTERNAL: Disabled the use of (completely unnecessary) savepoints on our read-only database replicas. This will hopefully address an intermittent database query stall issue I've been seeing since the very beginning of the site. Fingers crossed.
December 13, 2022:
- INTERNAL: Multiple improvements to the development environment.
As we end the year, I'd like to once again thank everybody who uses Groups.io. It is tremendously gratifying to work on a service that is used by so many and that hopefully is a positive force in the world.
I will be on vacation through the end of the year. The next #changelog will be published on Friday, January 6th.

- BUGFIX: When editing a pending message in a group that is set to
plain text only messages, the edited message would be stripped of line breaks.
- CHANGE: Respect newlines in album, photo, directory, and file descriptions.
- CHANGE: Improved formatting on mobile of the /activity page.

- BUGFIX: When editing a repeating event, the color was not preserved.
- CHANGE: Send the two-week advanced billing notice only to moderators that have billing permission, not just the person set to pay the invoice.

- BUGFIX: For extra member data, if a parent group had a date field and a subgroup also had a date field, the date picker would not be shown.
November 7, 2022
- CHANGE: For premium groups, the max size for files uploaded to the Files section has been increased to 2GB, and the max size of photos uploaded to the Photos section is now 1GB.
- BUGFIX: Uploading large files and photos should now work.
- BUGFIX: The hashtags.json file in exported group data was not formatted properly.

- NEW: Subgroups can now have extra member data.
- NEW: User activity page. Currently only enabled for members of the beta group, for testing.
- BUGFIX: The date format for #cal-notice and #cal-reminder notices was wrong.

- CHANGE: Send the two-week advanced billing notice to all moderators, not just the person set to pay the invoice. Also, ensure that all billing notices get sent to the person set to pay the invoices, even if that person is no longer a moderator of the group.

BUGFIX: If there is an overdue invoice and the group now has sufficient sponsorship reserves, allow the payment of of the invoice without needing a credit card on file.

- BUGFIX: Ignore
charset declarations in Content-Type fields for images, audio and video. An image was being sent with an erroneous charset declaration which was causing the image to be garbled.
- BUGFIX: For Outlook formatted emails, number ordered lists properly.

October 17, 2022:
- BUGFIX: On the
/members page, the [Map] links in Address extra member data columns would go to the individual member page, instead of Google Maps.

- CHANGE: Revamped the Pricing page to explain the different plans better.
- BUGFIX: If the account of the person who has claimed a pending message has been deleted, clear the claim record from the database.
- BUGFIX: If an enterprise group has a DMARC record with p=reject on the parent domain, there were cases where we would defang the message's From: address twice.

- BUGFIX: If we can't read a photo (because it's invalid), return an error message instead of a blank page.

October 7, 2022:
- BUGFIX: After changing your password, you are required to log in again. The message displayed on the login screen was confusing. It now says
Your password has been set. Please log in with it now.
- NEW: In the
New Topic page, set focus to the Subject field. In the /posttosub pages, set focus to the Subject field. When replying to a message, set focus to the editor, and keep focus in the editor when toggling Private.
October 5, 2022:
- BUGFIX: An owner of a parent group could not approve or reject pending messages from a subgroup where they were not a member.
October 1, 2022:
- CHANGE: Added
an edit of to the pending message approval activity log entry for approvals of edited messages.

Changes to the site this week:
September 30, 2022:
- BUGFIX: Improved the activity log entries around editing an existing message. If the editor was moderated, an edited message activity log entry was never generated. Also, there are now new subactions
and sent it to the group and and sent it to the group but it requires moderation because the editor is moderated.
- CHANGE: Added clarifying single quotes to the account change notification email.
- CHANGE: Exporting the member list as a csv download, if the user has a date preference of
DD.MM.YYYY, change the periods to slashes for the joined column.
- BUGFIX: Changing RSVP confirmation dialog button alignment issue.
- CHANGE: Strip
: from the end of hashtags. Previously a colon at the end of a hashtag would cause the hashtag to be ignored.
September 29, 2022:
- INTERNAL: Switch all database replica requests to the new database cluster.
September 27, 2022:
- CHANGE: Hardcode re-write bigpond.com email addresses as if DMARC was set, to fix deliverability issues.

- BUGFIX: Fix Trello integration, which broke when Atlassian added a new Origin requirement to the API.
- BUGFIX: Direct adding someone who had been banned from a parent group to a subgroup should fail, but wasn't.
- BUGFIX: In some scenarios, banning a member would not create an activity log entry.
- BUGFIX: The
/subgroupmembers page was displaying members that were banned or were pending.
September 20, 2022:
- API CHANGE: Improved the documentation for all of the database objects.
- API CHANGE: Fixed some issues with exporting of
extra_member_data_columns in group objects and extra_member_data in member objects.

August 12, 2022:
- SYSADMIN: Increased the file descriptor limits for the pgbouncer process responsible for the main database in hopes that it fixes the problem that led to this morning's downtime.
- BUGFIX: We were not indexing user names in the member search index, so you could not search members by user name.
- BUGFIX: You can now delete profile images, extra member data images and database images.
- BUGFIX: Image uploading to database rows was not working.
August 11, 2022:
- NEW: Paging through the Members page now remembers the checkbox settings from the
Visible drop up.

August 10, 2022:
- CHANGE: When merging accounts, we now transfer ownership of any messages posted by the merged from account to the merged to account.

- SYSADMIN: Upgraded kernels and software on several of the machines in the cluster.
- BUGFIX: Fix the admin statuspage.io API integration for easily creating new downtime incidents.
- DOCS: Updates from Nina. Owners Manual Revision History, Members Manual Revision History.
- CHANGE: The message
View Source function is now available to all members of the group.
- BUGFIX: Moderator changes to a member's fullname were not causing that field to be marked as change, causing those changes to be reverted the next time the member updated their subscription.
- BUGFIX: Plain text paragraph fields in database tables were not being indexed by the search engine.
July 28, 2022:
- INTERNAL: When attempting to send an email, if we are unable to look up an MX record during the first attempt at sending the message, return a temporary failure instead of the default behavior of trying to look up an A record. This is to hopefully guard against temporary DNS resolution issues which would cause a message to be improperly delivered to the wrong server.
- NEW: Added

- CHANGE: Newly uploaded photos will now have max gallery dimensions of 1024x1024, down from 2048x2048. This does not affect the downloadable photo.

Changes to the site this week:
July 8, 2022:
- CHANGE: Changed the order that we check addresses to see if an email is sent from a subscriber. Previously, we checked envelope sender, then From:, then Reply-To:. Now we check From:, Reply-To:, then envelope sender. Also, we now only consider the check a success if the user has a subscription to the group. Previously, we would stop checking once we found a user account, without considering if the user was a subscriber. This could lead to some instances of the wrong user being selected as the sender of the email, and the email bouncing.
July 7, 2022:
- CHANGE: In the New Topic & Reply pages, display attachment sizes in kB.
- BUGFIX: Don't modify images in messages if they aren't too big and don't need re-orientation.
- CHANGE: The Download Members CSV file now specifies the various attributes using human readable strings, like the API. Also,
User ID and Member ID numbers are included.
July 6, 2022:
- BUGFIX: Ensure that hashtags are displayed in the same order as they were specified on various pages.
- BUGFIX: When attempting to remove a member of a parent group that is the sole owner of a subgroup, the error message now mentions that the member is a sole owner of a subgroup.
- BUGFIX: You can no longer ban a member of a parent group if that member is the sole owner of a subgroup.
- CHANGE: Change the default
Owner Email setting for new group/subgroup owners from Members Only to All Emails.
- API BUGFIX: The
/getactivitylog endpoint would not allow subgroups.
July 5, 2022:
- CHANGE: Allow
height CSS property in HTML emails. Needed for the colored dots in #cal-summary emails.
- API CHANGE: Changed the
today parameter to last_24_hours.
