Since the contra dances are still only once a month, and will be for a while, I thought I would let everyone know about another chance to do some dancing to live music this weekend. The Central Illinois English Country Dancers is holding their monthly English dance on Sunday, July 23 from 1:30 to 4:30 at the Mansfield United Methodist Church. The address is 200 East Illinois St. in Mansfield, about 15 minutes west of Champaign on I-74.
There are many similarities between contra and ECD. Some differences as well, but both are taught and then called to live music.
Masks are now optional at our dances. Bring your water bottle and soft-soled shoes to protect the floor in the hall.
If you would be interested in carpooling, either getting a ride or taking some passengers, let me know. We'll try to work out a pool of people who can carry some people to the dance and a central location in C-U for everyone to meet.
We have a nice program of fun dances prepared for Sunday, so I hope that you will consider joining us.
