The WHAT YOU NEED Radio Program #703 -- Tribute to the late David Thomas
I've long been a subscriber to this list over the years, but since I don't speak fluent French, I've rarely, if ever, participated. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area, and do a weekly radio show on WRUW-FM 91.1, the Case Western Reserve University college radio station. This past week, I -- of course -- did a full 2-hour tribute to DT. Below is the playlist and links to listen to it, if you want to.? I had always assumed I'd still yet get to see another Pere Ubu show sometime -- this is a huge loss to the underground music scene here in Northeast Ohio!? JC
---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Jeff Curtis <jacurtis@...> Date: Tue, Apr 29, 2025 at 10:21?PM Subject: The WHAT YOU NEED Radio Program #703 -- Tribute to the late David Thomas To: <[email protected]> As I'm sure many of you know, David Thomas, the founding member of such essential Cleveland proto-punk/proto-post-punk bands Rocket From The Tombs and Pere Ubu, as well as many solo & collaborative projects over the years, passed away last week in his adopted home in England. The influence and importance of Thomas's work on the underground music scene in Northeast Ohio, as well as around the world, was simply immeasurable. I scarcely have the words to convey how meaningful so much of his music has been in my life and to my own music. So, next best thing, I dedicated this week's entire show to 2 hours of his work. Rest in peace, David -- we will sorely miss you.?
