Freedom Link and Meshtastic

The Freedom Link Group Inc. is proud to announce that we have teamed up with the company Spec5 to build a Meshtastic mesh networking system ?across the ARK-LA-TEX. We will be contacting and working with all the local hams and ham clubs to bring the final information, as soon is it is finalized by Spec5.?
Spec5 is a premiere company that builds all the equipment necessary to build a linking node/relay system. Please go check them out at this link: ?[ SpecFive LLC](https://specfive.com/)
The sweetest part of this is they are going to offer all equipment to build the system at their cost to us. This offer is for all clubs and organizations that go through the Freedom Link Group. All other equipment sales, like for individuals will come with a discounted price and 10% of all sales will go directly to the Freedom Link group as a donation for a non profit organization. Those proceeds will be used to purchase more equipment and up keep of installed equipment.?
This is not just an exciting opportunity for hams in the area, but for everyone in the ARK-LA-TEX. Meshtastic is a off grid texting mesh network that requires no license to use and is an open source software that has so much more to offer in technology that has not been used yet.?
This mesh network will be another means of emergency communications when cell phone and internet services are no longer available. ? Its just another way that ham radio operators support our communities and help save lives! 73's

I will say this, the range on these things seem very good for LOS work at those frequencies and power levels. This is going to be a fun experiment to see what sort of range people get.?

I'm curious: since LoRA is unlicensed, will the setup at the .84 site (or wherever) permit encryption?

I'm not sure what the freedom link guys intend on doing exactly, but my limited understanding is that if you operate as a HAM, I think you can run a higher transmit power (10 watts I think) but you won't be able to encrypt it otherwise your limited to about 1 watt with encryption.
