Nowhere was it suggested not to use TWS/Gateway 10.30 with recent API versions.
Of course there is no reason not to use TWS/Gateway 10.30 provided you are using any of IBKR's current API versions.
My assertion not to use TWS/Gateway version 10.30 was in reply to Raoul who, like me, was using a very old API version simultaneously with TWS/Gateway 10.30.
