Re: Multiple Algos on Linked Accounts

I work with two accounts, for the same reasons (simultaneous long & short positions).? Yes, you must have separate port IDs (I have up to 4, if I am using both paper and live accounts for the two accounts). ?Client ID¡¯s are independent in the two accounts, so you can have the same client ID operating in the two accounts.? Order Id¡¯s are also independent in the two accounts ¨C you will need to keep track of them separately.

Subject: Re: [TWS API] Multiple Algos on Linked Accounts

Hi Gilbert,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the separate accounts is easy to track individual strategies, but also to make sure that 2 algos dont compete in opposite directions. For shares, you mentioned that the resulting position would be 0. However its not the same for options. IB doesnt allow to go long and short the same option contract! So in that case, 1 of the algos will be denied.

So, if I am understanding it correctly, the linked accounts wont work for my scenario, but separate accounts would? Does that mean, I need to apply for the 2nd account as a fresh applicant?

Also, I understand from you that for 2 TWS I need to use 2 different ports. How about the client ID numbers? Can they be the same?

Thanks.
