New Holding tanks $$$'s-Yuk

Dick Rettke

开云体育

Well gang this is how it goes when your holding tanks are-a-goner!!? About $800-$1000 big ones, now you need to understand this also includes a new toilet and a new main gas valve [it is unsafe will not shut off completely].? I posted a message on a gas smell before, and thank God you suggested I go have it checked out, could of been sitting?on a time bomb!? The group comes through again?- "Thanks".?
?
The tough part is to find just the right tanks that will fit, and since it is plumbing [and I do nothing at all with plumbing} this price includes all installation as well.? So before we even take her on?our first?Cruise we are paying? - so it goes, you see I hate going to those community showers.? -=dr=-

I am sure you are right Benton, however, the "war dept" in this house wants it done this way, something about not wanting my "jury-rig" to let go on the highway.? -=dr=-

You know I think you may be right. However, the better half wants the tanks
and what the heck its only money. I know you are right, in the old days we
had a class A that only took a couple of showers to fill up. Ho Hum, so it
goes. -=dr=-

Dick.

I've been camping ever since I was a kid (Many years).

My wife and I have owned many Rv's. From tents, VW micros
in the 60s-70s, to travel trailers and MH's. Here it what
we found:

The key to fun is to keep your rig simple.

Nether the fresh water holding tank or the black water
tank will hold enough to work on any stay in the
boondocks over two days. If you plan to only use sites
where you can have full hook up, you don't need the tanks.

Taking one, or two quick showers will fill the gray
water tank, and you will have to move the rig to find a
find a dump site.

We don't use the tanks, except the valved gray water tank.
We carry our water in separate containers so there no need
to move the rig to refill the too small water tank. And of
course we don't have to deal with that nasty Black water
problem ever, as we carry bikes and use the CG facilities.

So think about taking a trip or two before you invest in tanks.
you may find you don't want the hassle.

Yup. everything is ok as far as the rest. I think the org. owner had a bit
of a crash and took the insurance money and ran, that is the best we can
figure. Thus, the ol boy wanted to sell the unit in the winter, arr and
winter is when I bought her, however even with 1k into the deal I am still
well within what Its worth to me, however, now we all know what it will cost
to have a custom job done.

Dick.

I agree with Benton. Check out JC Whitny. They sell
the same RV toilets for $89.

I sounds like your plumbing froze in the winter. Is
the toilet and tank cracked and leaking? What about
the pump, fresh water tank, hot water heater, and the
rest of the plumbing? All OK?

Jack, we are like family here so I can disagree with you and
still be friends, I hope. Your Toyota camper must be a lot
smaller than my 21' Sunrader. I can go 4 or 5 days with the
water I carry in my tank, and the holding tanks last me a
week or more. I think the whole purpose of having a motorhome
is to use the toilet, shower, sink, furnace, water heater, etc.
and enjoy the luxury that we paid for. If I could not use the
holding tanks I would not want a camper. I am with Dick on
repairing these items so they can be used.

I agree with Jack I use mine consistantly , Its not that much bother to stop
when you see a plact to revill. When in a camp with facilities we use them
mostly except in the middle of the night calls. Works well so far --10 years
with self contained units.
