I hear what you are saying, I guess I will put the adding of a tach on the

bottom of the list and drive the unit for a bit, and see what I want to do. Wisconsin has hills but not mountains, however, we may go to SD back hills this summer, and I will put her to the test then. I like the site, and it is so nice to be in touch with people who have the toys as well. -=dr=- ----- Original Message -----

Re: Story of how you got your toyota
Dick Rettke
So Nate, this is how we got ours here in Wisconsin. My wife saw an ad in

the paper. She read it to me on one day, and on the second day she read it to me again, 1986, 65 K 5,500 dollars. Hmmm, I thought, this bride of mine wants to buy this thing. Sooooo I called the number, the guy didn't live in our fine city, however the unit was in town parked at a friend of his business. Now some years ago we owned a Coachman Class A, we have camped all our 32 years of marriage, and now that we are close to retirement we talked about getting a motor home once again. One look at this sweet little baby and we where in love, talking about all this things we could do to it just with a little elbow grease. The next day I took the four banger auto for a cruise [ Hey . . . Its a "Mini Cruiser"] got a whole 65 + MPH out of this baby and thought what the heck, more time than money and we bought it. Next time around I'll share the cost of the deal . . .stay tuned. -=dr=- ----- Original Message -----

warms up a little, so who knows we may not be able to hold off. Now my Brother, x-fireman, said after smelling my "gas smell" that his assessment is that it is the smell of "burnt gas" meaning the same as the exhaust smell from the LP furnace. Have you heard of such a thing in your wide experience? I am in the process of setting up an appointment to have all the gas appliances checked out by an RV dealership. They charge 46 bucks an hour to look it over, so perhaps it will be worth it to spend a few bucks to have it looked at by a pro. What do you think? Today, I had the tire guy at our local Cenex put new valve stems in the duals, he said they where leaking and it certainly is worth the $15 charge to have air stay in the tires!! Now with a 1986 are there axel problems as those I'm reading about all the time? My guy at Cenex says there is a little oil on the rear end, and that perhaps they can check it out when I have them look at the brake shoes in the rear. That is my next project in the prep stage of our Toyota RV adventure in Wisconsin. Hey let me know the scoop on the axel deal for a 1986? Good Camping -=dr=- ----- Original Message -----

No, Nate, our has the door right behind the riders side of the truck. The

shower/toilet is straight ahead from that door. To the left is a small storage area on the bottom, and a fridge on the top of that area. Then there is a wrap around dinning/bed area. To the left of that is the stove and sink. We make the bed up for the summer, that is what we did with our class A, and we found it to work fine. We ordered our awning and screen room with privacy curtains today. Also completed putting up the blinds all around. The next project will be to install a table top from the side of the stove to the back wall so we can have the microwave and TV on this table. It is just great fun getting it set up, now . . . just so it will run ok, thus far we have put less than 10 miles on the unit. See if your Grandpas unit was build by R-B-R Corporation of Makuwaka IN? Let me know, just for the fun of it. Have a good one -=dr=- ----- Original Message -----

I just use it when it rains enough to put the campfireout. I prefer to sit around the camp fire, but it is nice to have the flexibility. I started out as a tent camper for several years, so I appreciate the sound of rain hitting the roof of the camper as I'm drinking hot cider and watching tv. Instead of sitting in a tent hoping it doesn't start to drip. I may be a wimp, but I put in my time roughing it . Happy Trails, Nate

my transmission is, how do I know if it's OK to drive my 86 Granville with the
overdrive OFF.? It loses power after 55 mph, and it acts like the passing
gear wants to keep kicking in and out if it drops below 60 mph.?

Any idea where I can obtain any and
