Re: Sunrader mice attack

There really is only one solution and that is to not let them in in the first place. I am on my fourth Toy and the first thing I do is mouse proof. It’s time consuming but fix once and done. Some hot spots are around where the toilet transitions to the black water tank and any other point where a pipe runs through the floor or wall. Another is the fresh air intake for vents and defrost by the wipers. I fit a mesh screen over the intake directly. You will have to remove the slotted piece that the wiper runs through. Also the firewall. They will get past those rubber boots around wires that pass through from the engine to the dash. There can be other places too depending on the model. Mice seem to dislike 100% pure silicone calk and steal wool. I’m fond of mixing them together to block up bigger spots. Once I’m done I never have mice inside again?

Re: Replacing Water Pump

Edited

The entire sofabed does come out rather simply by unscrewing the four bolts UNDER the metal frame of the seat.? It will take two people though to comfortably lift it onto the overcab bed out (of the way) while you work underneath.? While you are under there you can do a complete vacuuming and cleaning of the area that will likely have gotten dirty by this time.? Don't be surprised if you find loose change!!

Also while you are at it, Winnebagos are known for the screws working loose that keep the exterior outside storage box attached to the side walls.? Tighten all the screws surrounding it, and also seal any cracks you find everywhere, like possibly some towards the other end of the sofa, to deter any mice coming in.

Now for the most important tip!? When you put the sofabed back, move it a few more inches towards the outside wall to get a noticeably wider center aisle.? (You will need to drill 4 new holes in the wood support frame.)? If the sofabed won't go all the way back because the side valances for the windows are too low, you can unscrew those and move them up a bit as well, so that the sofa's back fits under them.

This modification to make the aisle wider is one that a lot of Toyota Winnebago owners have done, and it is a great improvement for more room to move around in the coach.

Re: Replacing Water Pump

Not sure about pump question, but pretty certain the couch (not the base) has to come out. It's heavy,? 2 people for sure.? Easy pump access once removed.? Experience tip: use a Sharpie to mark the outline of the couch mechanism before removing the big screws. Hardest part for us was finding the original screw holes through the fabric when remounting.

And any advice on how to remove the sofa to access the pump? I see that the cushions have zippers but not exactly how to remove them -- was hoping I could just take out a cushion, but I vaguely recall reading that the whole shebang needs to be taken out to get to the pump.

Re: Toy homes should be run now and then?

I have never had mine in storage it's always been at my house and I would always drive it at least once a week. Don't know where you're located but here in Texas it gets so hot it's not good for the tires to leave a vehicle sitting for months because the tires will develop a flat spot over time.
Running everything else in RV is I think a matter of opinion so hard to say.

Re: Replacing water heater?

Also, "ones for houses" don't run on 12V DC.??

I replaced my old water heater with a newer model gas one from Suburban with a on/off switch that mounts inside the coach. very convenient. Seems to only take about 10 minutes to heat up all the way, (scalding), but will use some of your propane. That said, so would an on demand RV water heater.? I haven't noticed any inconvenience from that. As I remember it, I didn't have to make any new water connections from the old model. I think it just fit right in.

Toy homes should be run now and then?

Good morning,
???????? I like to ask for advice, how often should I run my 22re motor when in storage? Run the AC unit, cab or roof? (not heated garage) And is there any other tasks I should do on a scheduled bases, any thoughts greatly appreciated. 87 Sea Breeze. Thank you... Bruce

Re: Replacing water heater?

Warning if you boondock these can be a problem. A traditional water heater will self limit the shower time, these will let you use all your water in one grand glorious shower.

Re: Replacing water heater?

Yes, I have heard there are on-demand water heaters that are designed to fit in the same size space, but I don't know the specific brand.? Hopefully others here will chime in.? Be sure to get an RV-specific one.? The ones for houses need good ventilation, and can get too hot if installed in confined RV compartment.?

Replacing water heater?

The water heater on our 1986 Sunrader does not work. We're considering replacing it with a tankless on demand water heater. Thoughts? Pros/cons? Experience? Image for fun! Thanks in advance to this great group!?

A reasonably-priced Sunrader for sale

Here is a reasonably-priced Sunrader for sale.? It is only a project on the inside with all the important appliances included. Notably it has a two-door jumbo-sized RV fridge.?

I have seen this RV and although it may need some engine maintenance, I?believe it is worth the asking price of $8900.?

The seller, George, has come to several of our Toyota RV Rallies in Quartzsite.??His reason for selling is that his life turned a different direction that meant moving to Missouri to be with family, before he could complete the interior rebuild.?

Contact him directly at the number provided.? Or reply through the Offer-Up app.?
