Yes it is a State Forest camp ground and I
mis-quoted the cost. It's only $6.00 a night.

I camped there 3 times last year and at times
my friend and I were the only ones in the camp
ground. (Week days). Many of the sites back
right up to Lake Huron and a few steps through
the trees puts you right on the beach.

No reservations are possible, just pick up an
envelope at the post and find a camp site.
If you can run up any Fri or weekday afternoon
you are almost sure to find a spot. Here's how
you get there:

Run up 23/75 to the Pinconning exit, go East
to the little town of Pinconning. Turn left
(N-13) through town, then stop at "Wilsons"
on the right, and buy much Pinconning cheese,
and fresh baked bread, and a couple bottles
of wine. Head out North again on #13 and it
will run into old #23N. Continue N. while
eating cheese and bread. Save wine for later.

GO all the way up old #23, a nice drive all
along the lake, to the little, non-town of
Ossineke. You will see a store/gas-station
on the left,in Ossineke. Go about 1-2 mile
more north, still on #23 and you will see
a faded sign saying State Forest. Turn right,
go past the church, and you will see little
brown signs pointing you to the camp ground.

Campfire wood can be puchased around here
just outside the camp ground.

My secret is out, It's a great spot
Happy camping. And hope we all meet
soon.
