Sticky What to do when a selftest fails

Vidas, the most obvious indicator that it is a clone is the serial number which begins with AD.? Real SA units do not have such a serial number.

Erik, can you give us more info about the other selftests??
as an example when i give selftest 07 it returns something like:
-----
RBW =? ? 12.1k, level = -34.64, corr =? 24.47
RBW =? ? 11.5k, level = -33.69, corr =? 14.97
RBW =? ? 10.6k, level = -33.37, corr =? 11.81
RBW =? ? ?9.5k, level = -32.58, corr =? ?3.91
RBW =? ? ?8.8k, level = -32.51, corr =? ?3.16
RBW =? ? ?8.2k, level = -32.87, corr =? ?6.75
RBW =? ? ?7.2k, level = -33.35, corr =? 11.60
RBW =? ? ?6.1k, level = -34.38, corr =? 21.92

Sorry, you stumbled upon a test intended only for me that I forgot to remove.

Hello Erik, first-off, thank you for a nice and affordable product, sir!
?
Just wanted to share my experience, and test result(s):
?
Purchased from Zenko store on Ali-Express. Ordered 4th October 2021. Delivered yesterday (10 Nov).
Came with FW of 5th May 21 (1.3-111).?
1) Initial self-test failed on the 12th.
2) Did a power reset, and tried again. It passed all tests.
3) I upgraded the FW to 1.3-320 (8-Nov-2021)
4) Passes all tests
?
Attachments: Serial number label and failure-mode.
?
I hope I don't see that "FAIL" again. :-)
?

Prem

If it happens again try doing the attenuator test. It's in the wiki on how to do it.

Okay. Thanks Dave!
Yes, I've read that attenuator-test procedure. Will try that if I see that "fail" error again; hopefully I'll never see it again!

Someone it asked us to share Self-Test results ... here's mine ...

Received my new SA and I am having trouble with the calibration.
Here is the serial number
21071254

Here are the photos of the calibration.
The Level Calibration passes OK.

Troubles are with tests 1, 3, 4, 9, and 10.

Thanks in advance for the assistance,
Scott

Seftest number 3 fails on my Ultra. Its serial number begins with SU-22 . I just updated its FW to current? 12.8.2023,? but I think this problem was there even before the update. I have not measured any high power devices.

Sorry about off-topic post, but I have measured an high? power device, I have? measured local FM transmitter with power probably around 50-100kWatts, but it is 20kilometers away. Sorry about a bad joke.

Mine failed here but it was due to a faulty cable, can you try with another cable?

It is working now. I? am? using female to male adapters on connectors to reduce wear on the original connectors. One of them was some kind of RP? connector, it didn't have the center pin.
This wasn't the first time when RP connectors have fooled me.

Clearly mark them with red sharpie or nail varnish.

How do you give an order for a self-test like self-test 04 for example? From the unit or the Windows software? can't find anything..

Hi !
I am a new member from Greece and just received my tinySA ULTRA.
I tried a self-test and couldn't pass the third test. I also don't know if the rest of the tests will get passed because the Self Test just stops to the third one that it is falling..
Do I need to do any calibrations (and how do I do them) before the self-test? or anything else when I use it for the first time ?
Any help would be appreciated as I am just starting to get to know this. Thanks in advance

Panos,

Did you connect RF and CALL?
There are some videos showing the zelftest. See the wiki

Yes, sorry I didn't know I had to connect CAL and RF input, Now that I did it I passed all the tests successfully. I am so happy now.

My next question is how do I install new firmware? I tried from the Windows software but unsuccessfully..

Thanks for all the help by the way it started to work for me already.
