tinySA Ultra firmware upgrade
#ultra
I just purchased a genuine TinySA Ultra from R&L Electronics after playing with the original TinySA for a couple of years.? I had been using the STM32CubeProgrammer software to update the firmware on my TinySA and found it also worked without any problem with the TinySA Ultra.? The only difference was the procedure for putting the device into DFU mode.? There is a submenu switch in the TinySA to select DFU mode while the procedure for the TinySA Ultra is pressing and holding the jog button next to the power switch DOWN (not to the right or left) before powering on the device.? DFU mode is confirmed by a blank screen.? The first time I tried, I made the mistake of not pressing the jog button to the right rather than directly DOWN.
My computer and software skills are more basic, so it helped to follow a thorough cookbook recipe for this procedure described in this PDF written by Don Wines, K5DW.? It is recommended on the TinySA website: -Michael, N7DTY |
开云体育Hi All TinySA (2.8") Owners,Be advised there is a very simple (one jumper wire) modification for the original TinySA to use the jog switch to enter DFU mode just like the Ultra. I have modified mine and it works well. The details are in the Files section. I also use STM32CubeProgrammer software to update the firmware on my TinySA and TinySA Ultra. Don's notes are very easy to follow. HTH...Bob VK2ZRE On 15/07/2023 9:03 am, Bellingham Mike

I had the same issue and the only way I was able to update was to use an older windows 10 machine, I even try downloading the stm drivers from their website for windows 11 and that did not work. Hope that helps.
I wish people would reserve their opinions when the OP is actually looking for people with experience and a solution to the question not their opinion on the question.? |
Hello, May I ask why someone wants to do a wire mod to their original TinySA, when that feature already exists in Firmware update 1.4.96? Just courious.? Clyde KC7BJE? Hello, I was able to locate a message from Erik about jog switch mod for DFU.? " It is simpler to connect the middle pin of the jog switch with Boot0 Press the jog switch while power on and you are in DFU mode."? Hope this answers your question.? Just for clarification, the latest FW for both versions of the TinySAs allows you to push down the jog switch while turning on the TinySA's puts them in DFU mode without any additional wire mod. 开云体育OK guys, to get the pdf file, YES the SA must be capitalized, i.e. cut and past like this: And yes it works. Mike C. Sand Mtn GA
