Even with reading glasses I find the screen of the NanoVna too smallIt is just a matter of good reading glasses. Also in my age of 72 it is possible to read that 2.8 inch display of the nanoVNA. I think the price is important. The lower the cost, how more toys you can buy ;-) 73, Rudi DL5FA |
开云体育I almost always use my nanoVNA in the shack and connected to the PC with the nanoVNA saver program, much more convenient operation not only by the screen size. I suppose that there will be a similar companion program for the TinySA. 73 de Ignacio EB4APL

I would compare its readability to the NanoVNA using the AA firmware.? If only one marker is used, the marker information is displayed in a font size similar to the H4.? It has a companion PC application, tinySA.exe, but I think most users will only need it for capturing screenshots. - Herb |

I'm older and use glasses too. I bought the nanoVNA with a four inch screen just to make life easier. I am sure I could manage with the smaller screen. In addition to my prescription glasses I have several magnifiers here already. I am going to want the tinySA and won't wait for the four inch screen. Depending on price I might buy one with a bigger screen when/if it becomes available. I will use magnifiers as needed. 73, Bill KU8H bark less - wag more On 6/24/20 8:19 AM, hwalker wrote:

Hi,=================================================== Bill, ? ?hugen's philosophy is to give students, ham operators and enthusiast access to test equipment at a sub $100 USD price.? I believe he is targeting the tinySA at a price point closer to $50 USD than $100USD.? At that price you can use the 2.8" tinySA and explore its capabilities until the 4" version is released.? I doubt you would have any problems selling or gifting the 2.8" version.? ? ?Additionally, take a look at the following screen shot for the rf generator mode of the tinySA.? It is more legible than the fonts used on the NanoVNA-H4 and I would want to keep the smaller tinySA just to use as a companion rf generator for the 4" tinySA.? The two together will form a nice 100k-350M tracking generator set-up. Frequency sweep, level sweep, AM and FM modulation schemes in the LOW OUTPUT mode particularly make the tinySA useful.? I suspect some users will purchase the tinySA just for its signal generator capabilities. Erik has really packed a ton of features into the tinySA.? His attention to detail and quality along with his partner ship with a respected supplier like hugen are enough to make me want to add the tinySA to my toolkit. - Herb |

I already thought the screen looked very usable. I have used a big, mil-spec SA and I have been missing having one. I will be watching for the sales announcement here and order right away. I am excited about it. The nanoVNA has exceeded my expectations. I am sure the tinySA will not disappoint. 73, Bill KU8H bark less - wag more ---snip---- =================================================== |
I like the small size of the NanoVNA and also this TinySA.? Small means easy to fit on my cramped bench along with all the other paraphenalia and whatever project is on the go at the time.? Having a built in battery makes it even more convenient.? Small size also means lower price which I think is important.
If I want a bigger display with more points etc then I hook up the NanoVNA to a PC.? Don't have a TinySA yet (I do have a homebrew version of Erik's original design using different processor with WiFi and webserver to PC, smartphone or tablet for bigger displays, but so far fewer features) but will sure get one if the price is right. Fantastic development effort by Erik in a short time period. Dave M0WID |

...Fantastic development effort by Erik in a short time period. ============================ Dave, ? ?It seems like a short period of time but Erik has been perfecting the design for months now starting with your homebrew version.? Combining the original design with features from the NanoVNA and additional generator operating modes makes the tinySA feel tiny only in size. ?I own a HP8558 spectrum analyzer which covers the same range as the tinySA and also covers more than half of my workbench.? The tinySA gives me far more capability and the HP8558 is a pain to keep working.? Like you I value my bench space, so because of the tinySA my HP8558 is being donated to the local technical high school. ?Since you are familiar with Erik's past work you know how meticulous he is.? I've worked with a lot of engineers in my career in EMC but rarely any that combine Eriks hardware, software and firmware skills.? - Herb |

Erik has really packed a ton of features into the tinySA.Yes, an AMAZING number of features, some of which I have never seen on any other spectrum analyzer.? The tinySA has features that are optional on my Siglent, and the Siglent option package costs about as much as 8 or 10 tinySAs.? I'm keeping my Siglent, but the tinySA will definitely also get used, and when the 4 inch version comes out, I will buy one of those, too. Yeah, the screen is a bit small for these old eyes, but I have glasses and a magnifier, and for what my Siglent SA cost me, I could buy a truck load of magnifiers to use with the tinySA.? I will use the tinySA with the same glasses and magnifier I use with the NanoVNA. |
Very impressive. Looking forward to purchasing one for use on my bench as a test and measurement device. Looking forward to follow on products.?
Is there a product roadmap anywhere indicating thoughts on future offerings? E.g. more frequency coverage,? I am new to the group, but is there any kind of documentation available such as functional block diagrams or preliminary schematics or if it is open source? Very impressive for the target price. Any idea when these will be available? a 4" screen like Hugen's NanoVNA H4 would be a huge seller having owned both the original and now the 4" version, the 4" one wins hands down! Best regards, Sam Reaves

We first have to ensure the device passes all the user and manufacturing tests. Only then production and selling can start.
Progress is good but the past has learned us not to promise a date. W.r.t a 4" version. Only after the 2.8" is a success and sells in "sufficient" quantities next steps will be considered. |
