? Possibly your son tried to save a few dollars and ordered elsewhere.? If he did order from the Zeenko store, then hugen is a member of this group and owns the Zeenko store, so if you provide him with the ordering information, he will be able to assist you.

On some PC's there is a ? in the device name? and opening fails. Don't ask me why, I do not understand

? ?Zeenko is the store of hugen, the original manufacturer and distributor of the tinySA devices. Sure, there are some sellers that buy genuine Ultra's in bulk from the Zeenko store and re-sell them at a profit on Amazon, AliExpress or elsewhere but how can you tell them apart from cloned devices?? The only way to ensure that you are getting an official device is to purchase from one of the sellers listed in the Wiki or get word of mouth from other buyers.?

? The sellers listed in the Wiki have been vetted and if you have a problem with a device purchased from them then you can ask Erik or hugen to intervene for you.? If you purchase elsewhere, and the device you receive turns out to be a clone, then you cannot expect help from Erik or hugen.

Be sure when I will speak about the Tiny SA I will warn my correspondants and friends.
Because before buy, not everybody knows about clone and / or the dedicated wiki.

Today, with this bad discovery, I am sad for Erik and Huger as their work is stolen and for my children, manly my son who managed the suprise to make me happy, and the money they save during months in the trash bin.

I have discovered buried in the shop page, the mention " original tinysa told us to inform the customer and advice to not do a firmware update"

This "warning" is not in the box... of course .

I wrote to AliExpress a complaint report for clone/fake selling.

Hope that will have some results to prevent future buyers to fall in the trap.

I also wrote a direct email to the seller.

The "where to buy" list contains safe sellers, it's not stating all other sellers sell clones.
If you want to be safe, you buy from the safe sellers list, if you want to take a gamble you can buy from anywhere.

Rud61, How about you conduct a test of your theory? Order a TinySA Ultra from Whishcolor Store every other day for 1 month. Update them all to the latest firmware and report back on the number that fail at least one of the self-tests. Afterwards you can sell all the genuine ones and get your money back.

This device is about to go nuclear in sales when the world catches on. That being said the 'other' stores are going to appear in searches and most wont know to exclude clones. Most will want a discount and get sucked into the clone purchase arena. They are gonna have to buy twice. My contention is the low price range that the SA and VNA are falling into make it possible for some to be able to afford these things but alas $50USD is a bit over budget for them let alone getting another 'True' unit.

So if you end up with a clone at first purchase then bite the bullet and buy an official one. You then have two when just 30 days prior you had nada.
I was lucky and found Erik's first so I will own OEMs of TinySA, TinySA4 and a NanoVNA for my project. Now some one might ask why so many? Because the future is unfolding before our eyes when an SA or VNA can be an integral part of the console now and left in place. Then these the data can be networked in the future from a vast floor. I do this with pocket mini o-scopes now.
The experts might argue that these are not that specific for our operation. Again the future is unfolding right before our eyes. 10 years ago for any one to have at least one of these devices at their access would have cost in the millions i.e business or institution, education, qualifications, employment etc. In my current world? Dropped shipped to my door. Oh what heaven it is.

? ?The cloners generally use the photos from the Zeenko Store, so photos showing the serial number are not useful in determining if the product is a clone. Erik's previous response, "If you want to be safe, you buy from the safe sellers list, if you want to take a gamble you can buy from anywhere", should be sufficient to end this thread.
