I've downloaded dfusedemo, version 3.0.6. With it running, I connect the TinySA and put it in DFU mode, but the application doesn't find it. If it's any help, when I enter DFU mode I get the 'USB disconnect' sound.
I've viewed a couple of YouTube videos, and can't figure out what I could be doing wrong. Also, if I click CHOOSE and select the new .DFU file, the application reports that the file doesn't have the correct format. Seems I have two different issues.

Hey Terry, I just upgraded two Tiny SA's (one older and one the newer version) to FW 1.3.317 with no problems. I did it this time with the TinySA-app using the applications built in upgrade function. Smoother that the DFUdemo. However, for previous versions I have used DFUdemo, also with no issues. If you aren't using TinySA-App (available at (), but are using the DFUdemo program, be sure you are using the "Upgrade" section, NOT the "Upload" section and have the correct .dfu file selected (can be found on the site above).?
I also believe that I did run into a recognition issue, a while back, with the DFUdemo program seeing the device with either the TinySA or the NanoVNA. I had to either connect the device first, switch to DFU mode, then fire up the DFUdemo program for it to see it. But if you can connect the TinySA to the PC (assuming you are using a PC), and it shows up in device manager under the COM ports, when you switch to DFU mode, the COM port drops and it shows up in?USB Serial Devices.

I had the same issues. I used dfu-util, a bit of a PITA but figured it out. You need to follow the how to and also rename the file to what the batch file expects. It’s a DOS based process but mine is running latest and works- passes self test and Cal.?
And Windows 10 needed to recognize the tinySA as a usb device- running zadig helped get it recognized. ?

dfusedemo.exe is definitely not working for me. I just tried the
'Upload' function in the tinySA app, and it's certainly not
intuitive. For example, it says to 'press the Open Folder button
above this memo...', but there is no such button. When I put the
TinySA in DFU mode, the DFU Device line fills in with
'Port_#0007.Hub...', so it's apparently seeing the device, but the
Upload Firmware line shows four cryptic choices, like '1-of-11 H
LSI'. If I click the folder icon there, and then select the DFU file
that I saved on my desktop (tinySA_v1.3-317-g9d82970.dfu), it adds
.url to the filename. If I then click 'Open', I get an error message
saying the file is too small to be valid. Does any of this make
sense to you?
I also have a SARK-110, and have never had any trouble upgrading it.
I just copy the new .dfu file to it, hold a button down at power-up,
and it's done. Why does this have to be so difficult? (I'm sure
there's a good reason!)
I appreciate your help, and Larry's too. (I ran zadig, but it didn't
help.)

Dfu util is an alternative method, using a .bin file which name must match what is expected in the batch file that is run.?
The batch file calls dfu-util with the correct “switches” and the .bin is uploaded.?

I just tried both apps on my wife's laptop with the same failed

Hey Terry, what FW version do you have loaded in the TinySA (menu=CONFIG/ VERSION)? And, when connecting to the TinySA app (before you try to update) does everything work Ok, you get a sweep and can control the unit from the app?
It appears the program is not sensing the unit is in DFU mode. Does the TinySA appear to go into that mode when selected in menu= CONFIG/DFU/ENTER DFU, before trying to upgrade?
Perhaps one of our group more familiar with this might have some suggestions.?

Version is 1.3-111-gcb2fe54. The tinySA app works great, except for
the upgrading function. After selecting the file, the app puts the

THis is what I did- Larry Get the tinySA_version_number.bin file from and also download from there the files with names starting with DFU (so the latest is tinySA_v1.3-317-g9d82970.bin) THe other "DFU"??files?are important- the batch file and etc. Rename the downloaded file to tinySA.bin
Connect the tinySA with USB, switch the tinySA on and enter DFU mode.
Download dfu-util from and check you can execute it.
For windows, open a command window and go to the folder with the downloaded files and run DFU_LOAD_BIN.bat. The tinySA should now be updating with the tinySA.bin file using dfu-util-static.exe
I did the?above on a W10 PC.
On Linux and Mac make sure dfu-util can run from the command prompt. Go to the folder where you downloaded and renamed tinySA.bin and execute dfu-util -a 0 -s 0x08000000:leave -D tinySA.bin

Hi Terry, a very basic question: Did you updated the firmware

for the DFU mode, this is not the driver used to communicate with
