Re: How to download TinySA-App (Windows)

For tinySA-App you only need tinySA-App.exe and tinySA-App.ini
Right click on the file names and select download

How to download TinySA-App (Windows)

Might seem a stupid question but how can I download all files at once from? ?
I downloaded file-by file via browser so far as I wasn't able download the whole folder ;)
Tried with FTP-Client (WinSCP, Port 80) but it seems like I don't get the settings right to connect...?
Thanks or clarification

Btw: I'm super impressed with the TinySA. It's such a valueable device, the operation is very intuitive, runs very stable, tons of features but still clearly arranged, nice youtube tutorials, price/performance ratio is as good as it can get, worth every penny
Thanks for the hard work!

Re: #features #file-notice #feature_request #features #file-notice #feature_request

The HMC213A requires an LO level of +13dBm where the mixer I used only needed +7dBm LO. It may work.

Re: New unity problem - Blank display

This sounds like a failing soldering of the display cable.
You can try to resolder it or you can contact Zeenko, their service is excellent!

New unity problem - Blank display

Hi there!
?
I just received my TinySA, but I have a problem:
?
-the display is completely blank.?
?
The good thing is: the TinySA is almost completely functional: I managed to use it (and test it) using the TinySA-app and the Screen Capture module with Auto Refresh on.? If I use the main screen display of the app (the graph window) I have nothing.?
?
I watched Erick's video (first use) and almost everything ran great except during the self-test, where I got Test 11: Display Failure. Observation: the display touch function works.
?
Another observation: using the TinySA-app Screen Capture module I'm not able to see the waterfall.
?
I was able also to update the TinySA firmware to its most recent version.??
?
My question: Does anyone has had this problem as well? Is there anything I could try to do to fix the display issue? Re-soldering anything? Even change the display??
?
The obvious action isn't practical: return it back to the seller (China). Important to say: it is an original one ( came from AliExpress - Zeenko Store )
?
Thank you for any suggestion you can give me.?
?
Demilson

Re: #features #file-notice #feature_request #features #file-notice #feature_request

Juan and Erik,

The same mixer Toni indicates above arrived just today from another shop at Aliexpress where I ordered it beginning this month.
So I haven't tried it yet, but was curious about the chip and figured out that it has to be the AnalogDevices mixer HMC213A or HMC213B,
see??or the (obsolete)??
There you have all the available data.

Erik probably used a different mixer module, so I am curious about the experiences of Toni, did it work out like in Erik's video?

I don't know if the datasheets contain enough data to undertand the workings when you use the thing as a (sub)harmonic mixer like Erik is doing in his video,
but part of the trick is using the High output of the tinySA which gives you a square wave into the LO input of the mixer I guess.

Keep experimenting!
Ben

Juan,
I used this one from aliexpress:

... but, as the store is closed or missing, you can buy it here:

Re: TinySA as a signal generator #584c

It is advised to stay at least least 3 dB below maximum low output power to ensure the output impedance is as close as possible to 50 ohms. This should work for the complete 100kHz to 350MHz range.
Going below the specified minimum output frequency of 100kHz the output impedance will gradually increase and become more and more capacitive.

Re: TinySA as a signal generator #584c

Dear Erik:
Is there any idea what the output impedance of the signal generator is?
In what frequency ranges or power will it be around 50 Ohms?
Thank you,

Re: #features #file-notice #feature_request #features #file-notice #feature_request

It's a Mini-Circuits mixer, from the SIM range, forgot what number.? Its a double balanced diode mixer. Any level 7 (requiring maximum +7dBm LO drive) mixer that can handle the high frequencies will do
If you want some conversion gain (which is nice when connected directly to an antenna) you may also use an active mixer such as the? AIM81008 but you have to reduce the LO input level to -5dBm

which is the integrated mixer circuit that you use to lower the wifi frequency in your youtube tests

Re: New FW release: Automatic restore of last sweep range after power off/on

Alan,
That seems like a duplication to the PRESET functionality
Using PRESET/STORE/STORE AS STARTUP you can save any configuration as startup configuration or you can let it start with factory defaults.
I still need to add presets to the OUTPUT modes so you can startup in a fully configured output mode.
The idea with the auto save is to prevent wear of the internal flash by saving a limited state in the battery powered backup registers
You can always go back to startup state by doing PRESET/LOAD STARTUP

Re: New FW release: Automatic restore of last sweep range after power off/on

Hi Erik, I'm relatively new (#) to TinySA - firstly can I say what an absolutely brilliant product you have produced. ?

Here is my suggestion for a future release:
Add three new functions to the Config Menu:
?- On Power On ....? (choices are: Default, M1 or M2)
?- M1 (select saved seetings)
?- M2 (select alternate saved settings)

For the settings:
- Mode
- Frequency,;Centre, Span, etc
- Level; Trigger, (Trigger Level, etc) Attenuate, etc
etc.
[Obviously this would also require you to add a "save settings" option to the menu(s).]

Basic idea, is to give a means on power-up to default to your previously saved set-up on switch-on, or for general use just revert to the TinySA's existing defaults, and also to quickly switch to one of the two saved settings options.?

#? I came across a reference to the TinySA in an on-line discussion, when I was trying to diagnose an issue with a commercial bit of kit operating in the 433MHz ISM band.? Having found the website and read the cautions about the rip-offs on eBay, I purchased mine from Mirfield Elecectronics - as suggested.? It enabled me to resolve the issue I was having, so has already paid for itself. ?

Did you watch this video?

And read this spec page?

Re: New FW release: Automatic restore of last sweep range after power off/on

Weird, I could restore any of the last three (except where the version number was not correct) and get the correct FW release. Finally after three upload attempts
the problem went away. ???

Re: New FW release: Automatic restore of last sweep range after power off/on

Saved mode would be nice. I use my tinySA mostly as a sig-gen and would like to have it come up in that mode when powered on.

Sorry, I do not understand your question. Please explain

Re: New FW release: Automatic restore of last sweep range after power off/on

Power on device
Set frequency range
Power off device
After next power on, frequency range must restored.

Also possible remember others settings if need

Used backup memory region, powered from battery, so if remove battery this featore not work.

What is the built-in mixer used to make er be the converter? Greetings and thanks

Re: New FW release: Automatic restore of last sweep range after power off/on

Can all the examples in your msg be added to the restore?

New FW release
Version V1.3325

Changes:
- After power off/on the last used sweep range is automatically restored.

Only the sweep range is restored after power off/on, all other settings are loaded from the startup preset.
This automatic save/restore does not cause any wear of the internal flash memory as battery powered backup registers are used?
There is some more space for extra settings to be saved and restored. Let me know what settings you prefer?
Examples: Attenuation, ref level, RBW, mode, output level
