Re: TinySA Ultra Menu-Tree Chart pdf file in landscape mode
开云体育Kurt,I'm attaching a Word document with the corrections I made. I hope it's helpful. The changes are in red, and should be self-explanatory. I didn't make any changes to the last few pages, but they're not required for basic use. I'm sure the time and effort you and David put into this will be appreciated by all users. While this would sure make a handy pocket-sized booklet for use in the field, it's also perfect for use with a laptop or tablet. Terry On 3/6/2023 7:36 AM, Kurt Poulsen

Re: filter measurements with tinysa ultra
开云体育Hi Dave, I have in the meantime 3 of them. TO be more precise 3 TinySAs and 3 NAnoVNAs. :-) It is so amazing? what can be measured with this little units! In many cases they outperform some 20 years old heavy units, degrading them to paperweights. I have one TinySA all the time at my audio equipment repair place, to test for rf oscillation. The Ultra is with the NanoVNA 2 in my tool box for installation and service of locking systems, to monitor the ISM band for communication in this systems and to check the antennas. The other two boxes are ión my RF test bench as handy tools to do fast checks when repairing RF measurement equipment. I love the fact that the TinySA has no grounding, so it dosn't make graund loops.
To conclude, it is a good idea to have a lot of this little helpers around :-)
All the Best, Isidro

Re: filter measurements with tinysa ultra
Thanks for all the replies and guidance. Agreed - I think Erik has covered noise pretty well and I'll be sure to follow his video and warnings (especially total power). This seems like the best approach using the Ultra. Thanks for the note about a slow sweep and max hold. I hadn't thought of that. I haven't gotten around to getting a nanoVNA yet. Maybe?it's time! It's definitely on my wish list. Dave On Mon, Mar 6, 2023 at 11:37?AM Roger Hartel <naples08@...> wrote:

Re: filter measurements with tinysa ultra
开云体育Erik published an article on the cautions that must be observed when using a noise source. The total power the SA can see is the result of all frequencies the noise source produces, not just the power at the frequency of interest. He published it within the last two weeks I think, but I didn’t keep it. You can also use a well calibrated cheap SDR and computer for the same task. ? Sent from for Windows ? Re: filter measurements with tinysa ultra
开云体育Hi Dave, buy a TinySA Ultra for the measurements of the unit in service and buy a NanoVNA for the pretuning and you have all what you need.

There is no sync output to step a tracking generator with the TinySA sweep. However there are two methods you can use to sweep your filter:

Re: TinySA Ultra Menu-Tree Chart pdf file in landscape mode
开云体育Kurt,I don’t have Visio. I also don’t have experience with editing PDFs, but I could print the pages, mark them up by hand, then scan those. Would that work for you? Terry On Mar 6, 2023, at 8:02 AM, Kurt Poulsen <kurt@...> wrote:

New Ultra FW release: IMD measurement in multi band mode
New Ultra FW release
Version V1.4070 Changes: - Loading default settings or a preset should now set/reset multi band. - SPAN parameter added in IMD measurement. SPAN=zero gives old behavior, SPAN>zero activates multi band with the requested SPAN per harmonic. Testing of this new feature is welcome as only by using it the bugs will be found. -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Multi band and Measurements
The first measurement that will support multi band functionality is IMD (as it was the simplest)
Signal generator was set to generate 2nd harmonic at -30dBc and 3rd up to 5th harmonic at -40dBc This is what you get without using the multi band option The measurement range of the harmonics is limited by the noise floor You can improve the dynamic range by manually setting the RBW to 1kHz but the scan time will be 800 seconds Using multi band IMD measurement you only?enter the frequency of the fundamental (11MHz) and the span to be used when viewing the fundamental/harmonics (20kHz) and you get this in 2 seconds with an automatic RBW of 1kHz More to come. -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Re: TinySA Ultra Menu-Tree Chart pdf file in landscape mode
I greatly appreciate Kurt's continuing work on this document I started at the beginning of this year.? I've been distracted for the last several weeks with some other projects (a new "toy" called a radiosonde) and our daughter's wedding coming up in a couple months.
Adobe Acrobat can rotate the pages to either landscape (which is how Kurt and I work with the document in Microsoft Visio) or portrait but I didn't realize the Acrobat Reader (not the full version) was unable to rotate the pages. I'm glad I bought the TinySA Ultra last December. I had no idea at the time I bought it that I'd be using it to look at the 1.68GHz signal from a 49 year old radiosonde transmitter I found on surplusshed.com!? It only lasted about two minutes before an old paper capacitor apparently shorted out and wiped out the resonant cavity tube (or valve as they say in the UK).? Should have changed the capacitor out before applying power because now I just have a radiosonde paperweight!? Anyway, here is a screen shot of the signal from one meter away from the antenna before the capacitor damaged the tube. |

开云体育Hi Terry Your offer is most welcome, it requires the blessing of David which are the owner of all rights. You correction must be clearly visible for me to correct the Visio file. I have attached an image of all the export formats and I just tried to generate the Webside file (a html file and a folder with all the graphics) and it was a nice surprise to watch as a left column contains the page text clickable for fast selection. Kind regards Kurt Kurt ?? ? Fra: [email protected] <[email protected]> P? vegne af Terry Perdue ? This is a work of art! Once the Ultra’s menu structure is finalized, this could become a product similar to the ‘Nifty Manuals’. I think it could be a big seller and help reward those responsible for all their hard work. There are, however, many spelling and grammatical errors in the charts. I’d be happy to help with those if you’ll PM me. Terry K8TP

Re: Ultra Menu - Multi Band
开云体育The next release will use "ALTERNATE" instead of "MULTI BAND" ‘MULTI BAND’ seems a better description of the function than ‘ALTERNATE’ to me. |
