Re: Default parameters when TinySA is switched on
I do not agree
The amount of writes to the flash memory is limited so you do not want to write without need. The PRESET/STORE/STORE AS STARTUP is there if you want to start with certain settings. Please do not propose extra HW to be added, the design goal was the lowest possible price for a balanced set of functions. ------------------------------------------

Default parameters when TinySA is switched on
Hi. Every time the TinySA is switched on, it doesn't remember its previous state and starts with the default factory parameters (e.g. Low band, Frequency from?0.1MHz to 350MHz, auto mode, etc). In my opinion it should restore the same conditions I set when I have switched it off. Do you agree?

New FW release: Added battery indicator to output menu and solved auto attenuation bug
New FW release
Version v1.1-85 Changes: - Battery indicator added to output menu - Attenuation will decrease when auto attenuation is on and no maximum is found. The second change solves the problem where no signal is visible when attenuation is at maximum and the tinySA refuses to automatically decrease attenuation because it does not see any signal. ------------------------------------------

Re: Tinysa tracking generator
#feature_request
Hello,
good job John W7 and Erik , I used also the same local oscillator and ERA amplifiers and RMS mixer from MiniCircuit, then calibrated Tinysa and TG with precision SA and rubidium reference.Artifacts may be spurious or resolution/speed issue I am checking the datasheets. I use? Tinysa with generator and TG in laboratory application nearly 4 hours per day an is very reliable and stable(just ram clear after self check is missing). Kind Regards, Sandro |

I'll have to see if I can find the paper and see how they're processing as I'm guessing now that they're up to 1000GHz as a Hackaday article noted a while back I recalled too reading into... a 600MHz ARM board might not be sufficient.??

Re: What to do when a selftest fails
Hi Folks:?
Like a few others of you, I suspect I somehow fried the input attenuator chip on my tinySA.?? I picked up two of the newer replacement attenuator (PE4312) chips for about $4 each, and after some brain surgery I am pleased to say that my tinySA now passes the attenuator test with flying colours.? I have just build some 20 and 30dB stripline 50Ohm Pi-pads!? ?Better safe than sorry (again).? Steve? |

The SW is open source, feel free to create different FW's

How about having different firmware's that you can load that is tailored to perform more in depth testing, it only takes a minute to load firmware and re-calibrate?

Re: Ok, Boys, Here's your next Project . . .
"But it?only?goes up to 20 GHz!? (lol)." As we used to say in the Old Country: "Ja, Wel, No, Fine" I came upon a temporary name for the beast: BMF Teensy Tiny SA. Especially if built in conjunction with this 600MHz ARM board: On Sat, Feb 6, 2021 at 8:47 AM Bruce KX4AZ <bruce@...> wrote: But it only goes up to 20 GHz!? (lol). |
Re: Shift for displayed marker frequency

Good proposal,
Just like an "external amp" I'd prefer an "external conversion" that shifts everything frequency related (+ is upconverted, - is downconverted). Would be nice if it fits in the frequency menu but no more space. EXPERT CONFIG or MEASURE are alternatives. For the todo list -- ------------------------------------------

Shift for displayed marker frequency
#feature_request
Hi,?
when aligning superhet receivers it could be handy to see frequency for marker with +-IF. Probably it could be as another item under Measure menu? IF could be set in Config menu. What do you think? |

Re: Self Test Fail
Ooer...
Thankyou for that warning. No I did not. However, I have seen the screenshots of the failed tests and I watched closely as the tests progressed on mine. The worst failures are the two bandpass tests, where the actual (yellow) trace has to be within the green rectangle. It was nicely in these on both, so I am confident it is ok. I have not got the time to update at present but will as soon as time allows. Steve L |
Re: Self Test Fail
Hi Steve,
Have you updated the firmware before celebrating the self test pass? It is apparent in my clone that the firmware that came with it had been modified that self test always passes even though the data displayed on screen behind the text during the test is the same as that which the official firmware calls a fail. All the best. |
